Josh Berry Wins Mystery Bounty for $3k After Deal
Josh Berry was happy to agree to a deal for $3k with the chip lead at least in part because he had most of the bounties. He pulled the second Green card for $2,678 as well as Pink ($2,168), Yellow ($1,084), and two Blues worth $638 each for an extra $7,206 in bounties. That put his final total tonight over $10k.
-
Mike Malm Out in 2nd Place for $2,853 (After Deal)
The final two players played a bit of heads-up, but it didn’t take long for chip leader Josh Berry to offer up a deal. He said he’d be willing to take $3k and Mike Malm agreed to his share of the remaining money, $2,853. Along with the money chop, they agreed to each take their own bounty. Malm drew first and pulled a green card worth $2,678 to go along with his second place money.

KJ Out in 4th Place for $1,148
Level: 19 (6000/12000/12000) Entries: 3/85 Prizes: $24,225 ($11,475 prizes, $12,750 bounties) KJ flopped a queen to go with his king-queen, but couldn’t find anything else to crack the aces of Josh Berry. KJ added $1,148 to the $3,365 he picked up for second in the PLO game on opening night. He asked that I not take his picture tonight.
Berry is now the chip leader with more than a full stack of 25k chips in front of him.

I missed the action whole I was outside for a minute. The only bounty we know of for sure so far was Cardelle Szego’s min-bounty — the other two bounties have been pulled, but not opened yet, so we don’t know what they are.

First Cash is DNR
The min-cash tonight was from one of the players who prefers to remain anonymous.

85 Entries Confirmed; $3,328 to the Winner
Level: 9 (1000/1000/1000) Entries: 30/85 Prizes: $24,225 ($11,475 prizes, $12,750 bounties) The numbers are official with 85 entries for the Mystery Bounty. That built a combined prize pool of $24,225 with $11,475 of that waiting for prizes at the end of the night. The winner is set to pocket $3,328 with a total of 9 players sharing in the prizes.
The field required a rejig of the posted bounty amounts as there were fewer than 120 entries. The bounties for tonight will be as follows:
Colour Value Green $2,678 Green $2,678 Pink $2,168 Orange $1,594 Yellow $1,084 Blue $638 Blue $638 Blue $638 Blue $638 -
About 30 Minutes to Enter
Level: 8 (500/1000/1000) Entries: 36/76 Prizes: $21,660 ($10,260 prizes, $11,400 bounties) They are into Level 8 of the Mystery Bounty with 76 entries on the board for $21,660 in total prizes. They will go on a break following this level and entries will be closed when they return for Level 9.
-
Nearing 60 Entries
Level: 4 (200/400/400) Entries: 59/59 Prizes: $16,815 ($7,965 prizes, $8,850 bounties) Level 4 is just underway in the Mystery Bounty with the field at 59 entries. That puts the combined prizes at almost $17k with almost $8k in the prize pool and $8,850 in bounties so far.
It’s possible that the big bounty calculations may have to be modified, depending on the final field. There are 12 big bounties according to the structure, but that would require at least 120 entries for the game. If the field doesn’t hit that number, the total number of big bounties will need to be adjusted to fit the field size.

Among the players in the mix early are Kyle Dery, Trevor Simpson, Seamus McGearty, Terry Langdon, Mike Malm, Melissa Sekulich, and Cardelle Arsenault (Szego).

Mystery Rounds Out Bounty Weekend
Event: #4: $340 Mystery Bounty ($150 + $150 + $40) Dates: Nov 9, 6 PM Blinds: 25 Minutes Start Stack: 20k Late Entry: 9 Levels (~9:50 PM) Day 1 Ends: One-Day Event Saturday’s side closes out two night’s of bounty sides after Friday’s PKO game. This time, the bounties are a mystery until they are won. While the final figures will depend on the field, expect the biggest bounties to easily cap $5k in this one.
The opening hands go at 6 PM on Saturday evening with a start stack of 20k. There are 8 25-minute levels of poker with entries open, and the final chance to grab a stack will be about 9:50 PM. This is a one-day event, so after that, it will be a race to the winner.
The bounties will kick in when players are in the money, and the average bounty is set at $300. Once the field is set and the $300 bounties removed from the bounty pool, staff will work out the top bounties on the remaining pool with the following formula:
- 2×20% (one in at the start of bounty play, the second with two tables remaining)
- 1×16%
- 1×11%
- 1×7.5%
- 3×4.5%
- 4×3%
My main focus early in the day on Saturday will be Day 1c of the Deepstack game, but it bags before midnight so I should make it over for the endgame of this one at least. Bear in mind that the end of a Day 1c has a bit of extra admin work for me as I prepare the Day 2 seat assignments, payouts, etc, so I might be later to this one than for a regular side event.
