2024 Fall Super Stack – Event #7: $340 Seniors NLH

Deerfoot Inn & Casino is bringing back its signature Fall Super Stack series, kicking off on Nov 7. The series offers a diverse lineup of tournaments, including multi-day events like the $340 Deepstack, $560 Megastack, and $1,500 Main Event Superstack, as well as unique highlights like a $1,100 Heads-Up match, PLO games, and a Mystery Bounty.

  • Final Four Tables

    Level:15 (2500/5000/5000)
    Entries:35/174
    Prizes:$49,540

They are down to 35 players left now in the Seniors game with Level 15 just underway. The next break is following Level 16 in about an hour, and my guess is that the bubble will burst sometime in Level 17 or 18 tonight.

  • Five Tables Remain

    Level:13 (1500/3000/3000)
    Entries:44/174
    Prizes:$49,590

They are down to 44 left in the Seniors game now with less than 5 minutes to play in Level 13. Among the players I can still see in the game are Jacqueline Ray (who was on the FT of the One-Day last night), Debi Loomer, John Foley, Bill Thomson, Fred Balic, Kirk Nilson, Don Fujita, Pam MacNaughton, Wayne Hoffert, April Facey, Julius Roque, Peter Amic, Rob Bridger, Mike Lonigro, Bridgette Calvank, and Page Bruce.

It looks like Page Bruce and April Facey are among the leaders right now with about 240k each. There is one other player out there who looks to be playing a bit more than that, but they have requested anonymity for personal reasons. Bridgette Calvank just chipped up to about 160k when she got ace-queen in against ace-jack and ended up winning with a four-card diamond flush after he opponent flopped his jack to take the lead.

It’s also worth adding that Rob Brodger is in hist first seniors tournament today, having just turned 50 this year. I spoke with him over dinner, and he reported very much enjoying his first time, saying it was a more relaxed atmosphere than other tournaments he plays.

  • 50 Players Left at Dinner

    Level:12 (1500/2500/2500)
    Entries:50/174
    Prizes:$49,590

The Seniors players are on their dinner break now with the conclusion of Level 12. There are still 50 players left in the action so it’ll be a while yet before any money is handed out. The average stack coming back from dinner will be just under 30 big blnds.

  • 69 Players Remain

    Level:11 (1000/2000/2000)
    Entries:69/174
    Prizes:$49,590

Level 11 is just underway with the Seniors field down to 69 players left. There is a 45-minute dinner break scheduled following Level 12.

  • 174 Entries Confirmed

    Level:10 (800/1600/1600)
    Entries:88/174
    Prizes:$49,540

The numbers are confirmed at 174 entries for the Seniors. That represents the biggest one-day field so far this series by quite a large margin.

There is nearly $50k in prizes to divide up later tonight and 17 players will be getting a piece of that with the winner set to pocket $12,646. Full prizes are under the payouts tab and below.

  • 174 Unofficial Entries for Seniors

    Level:9 (600/1200/1200)
    Entries:99/174
    Prizes:$49,590

Entries are now closed for the Seniors with 174 on the board. I am still waiting on confirmation of those numbers, but if they hold, it should mean 18 players getting a piece of nearly $50k in prizes today.

Once the official prize pool is posted, I’ll be able to confirm all the numbers.

  • 164 Entries for Seniors in Final Level of Entry

    Level:8 (500/1000/1000)
    Entries:119/164
    Prizes:$46,740

There are just under 20 minutes to play in Level 8, and entries will close for the Seniors game when they sit down for Level 9. That means there are just over 30 minutes left to get into the game today.

As mentioned, the room is full of familiar faces — a few others I have noticed include Cindy Kerslake, Pam MacNaighton, Suzie Markoff, Jacqueline Ray, Julius Roque, WIllie Hernandez, and Francis Krulicki, who was on the final table of the Deepstack yesterday, finishing 10th.

  • Good Turnout for Seniors

    Level:5 (300/500/500)
    Entries:135/135
    Prizes:$38,475

The Seniors have just returned from their first break of the day and the turnout has been pretty good with 135 entires on the board and about 2 hours left to get into the game.

The field is full of familiar faces so I won’t go through a complete list now or we’ll be here all day, but among the players I’ve spotted today are Pete Fylyma, Paul Sokoloff, David Labchuk (who has two seniors rings from local WSOP action), Bill Thomson, Mike Lonigro, Rob Lothian, Scott Calvank, and Fred Balic.

That barely scratched the surface of the faces I recognize, but I’ll add more names later on.

  • Seniors Start the Action on Rememberance Day

    Event:#7: $340 Seniors ($300 + $40)
    Dates:Nov 11, 11:15 am
    Blinds:30 Minutes
    Start Stack:25k
    Late Entry:8 Levels (~3:45 PM)
    Day 1 Ends:One-Day Event

The main game on Nov 11 is for players 50+. The action gets going at 11:15 am to allow for reflection at 11:11 and they have 8 levels to enter the game. That should put the final chance to enter at about 3:45 PM. Players start with 25k in chips for 30-minute levels and they’ll play until a winner is decided.

This will be my main focus for Monday, though I expect I won’t be on the floor until after the first break, depending on how late my Sunday goes.
