Nicholas Teeuwen Takes Down Heads Up Game
It was a bit of a marathon in the Heads Up game tonight with several of the first round matches going very long. While some games seemed to go very quickly, others dragged on for a couple of hours.
When it got down to the semifinals in the money, it was Haven Taylor versus Oleksandr Lobur with Taylor coming out the victor. On the other side, it was Kali Shuali against Nicholas Teeuwen wth Teeuwen taking it down. Interestingly, Shuali was up against her poker coach and close friend, Michael Malm, in the quarter-finals, taking it down to move on.
The final battle went for a couple of hours with Teeuwen holding the advantage over Taylor through most of it. I wasn’t able to watch the action that closely as I was following the final table of the Seniors game at the same time, but pretty much every time I looked at the heads up match, Teeuwen was in the lead.
Final Results from Heads Up
Place Player Prize 1 Nicholas Teeuwen $8,295 2 Haven Taylor $4,791 3 Kali Shuali $2,672 4 Oleksandr Lobur $2,672 -
Teeuwen Still Leading
Nicholas Teeuwen is still in the lead in the final heads up match and the stacks are still about the same with Teeuwen on about 20k and Haven Taylor on about 10k.
-
Teeuwen Leads Final Match
The final match between Nicholas Teeuwen and Haven Taylor is underway with Teeuwen holding the lead right now. The game was supposed to play with a 25k start stack for the final match, but because of how long some of the matches were today, the two players in the final agreed to a 15k start stack instead. At the moment it looks like Taylor is sitting with about 10k.

Teeuwen Takes It
It’s been a bit of a marathon in the final semifinal match tonight. Kali Shuali had the lead for a while, but Nicholas Teeuwen just came back for the win.
Haven Taylor has been very patiently waiting for the winner of this match so they can get on with the final round.

Shuali Leading Final Semi
Kali Shuali is leading the final semifinal match now with about 23k to Nicholas Teeuwen’s 7k. Haven Taylor is waiting for the winner of this match for the finals.
Across the room, the Seniors final table is now setting up with four ladies among the participants. Six of the final 12 players in this one were women, with Michelle Murray and Cheryl Knight ending in 11th and 12th respectively while April Facey has a huge lead with more than 1.3 million.

Shuali Moves on to Semis
The second semifinal match is now set after Kali Shuali took down Mike Malm. She’ll be meeting Nicholas Teeuwen in the second semifinal match to start shortly.

Taylor is First Player to Finals
While the second semifinal match doesn’t even have its competitors set yet, the first one is already complete with Haven Taylor taking the win. That makes Oleksandr Lobur the first player to cash out in this game, collecting the first payout of $2,672.
The second semifinal is still waiting on both competitors as Mike Malm and Kali Shuali are still battling, as are Weston Pring and Nicholas Teeuwen to decide who the two semifinalists will be.

Final Round 2 Battle Complete
It was a marathon between Weston Pring and Antonios G in their Round 2 match, but it’s now finally over with Pring advancing to the 3rd round to meet Nicholas Teeuwen. The winner of that match will meet the winner of the Mike Malm/Kali Shuali match for the second semi-final. Malm/Shuali is underway and it looks like Malm has a slight lead now.
The first semifinal between Haven Taylar and Oleksandr Lobur is already underway with the players looking to be about even right now.

Interesting R3 Battle
Perhaps the most interesting matchup in Round 3 is between Michael Malm and Kali Shuali. As a couple, they know each other’s game very well so it will be interesting to see who prevails. Malm is on a red-hot run right now as the current leader of the API so he’s likely to be tough to beat, but Shuali has some moves of her own, so it will be interesting to see how this all plays out.
Meanwhile, the first semifinal matchup is set after Haven Taylor bested Nick Peterson to move on to face Oleksandr Lobur shortly.

Lobur First Player to R4
Oleksandr Lobur is the first player to the 4th round now after he just defeated Dylan Payne. He is now guaranteed money and awaits the winner of the match between Haven Taylor and Nick Peterson for his semifinal opponent.

R2 and R3 Underway
All the R2 matches are either in play or complete now, and there are two R3 matches in play now as well. See below for a look at the matchups underway right now.

-
Delayed Start
The HU game is a bit delayed at the moment as they have 19 entries and are waiting to see if they get any more. Heads Up on the Side for Monday
Event: #8: $1,100 Heads Up Dates: Nov 11, 4 PM Blinds: 20 Minutes Start Stack: 15k Late Entry: No Late Entry Day 1 Ends: One-Day Event The side game on Monday is a heads up battle for $1,100. The action kicks off at 4 pm and there is no late entry or rebuys for this one because of the HU format.
The structure says that players start with 10k in chips, but tournament director Landon Lacroix just informed me the decision has been made to bump that up to 15k to start, so players will start the matches with 150 big blinds as the action begins at 50/100. There are no antes in play for this tournament.
I will do my best to keep up with this one, but the Seniors game is also happening, so my attention will be a bit divided today.
