  • St. Pierre-Porter Bags the Big One

    Level:15 (2500/5000/5000)
    Entries:10/77
    Prizes:$36,575
Michael St. Pierre-Porter, pictured at the final table of Event #5

Against all the odds, they played the distance on Day 1a with a full 15 levels in the books and 10 players still alive. That means that at least two players will be coming back on Day 2 outside the money.

Michael St. Pierre-Porter is the leader from Day 1a with 369k while Zeyu “Skytrain” Huang also has more than 300k for second. Vancouver’s Kali Shuali, who was in the money in the Heads Up game yesterday, bagged the third stack with 267k. While he is at the other end of the table, another notable stack from 1a is Jordan Banfield, who is working on win #3 in this series. He’ll have work to do on Thursday with just 83k to start, but he’s running hot and playing well this week so I wouldn’t count him out.

  • 20 Minutes to Play in Day 1a

    Level:15 (2500/5000/5000)
    Entries:10/77
    Prizes:$36,575

There are about 20 minutes to play in Level 15 and they’ll end the day once this level completes. Earlier tonight it looked like they’d end things much earlier, but they’ve slowed considerably since they broke down to one table and they haven’t lost a player since Level 13. It now looks likely the bags will come out with more than 8 players still alive, which means that, despite the best efforts of the staff by changing the structure, there will still be players coming back on Day 2 outside the money.

  • Play Has Slowed

    Level:14 (2000/4000/4000)
    Entries:10/77
    Prizes:$36,575

There are about 15 minutes remaining in Level 14 and there are still 10 players left in Day 1a. It looks like Zeyu Huang is still the leader, though his stack is a bit smaller than the last time I looked. The average stack is still about 50 big blinds, so they are fairly deep, but Huang and Michael St. Pierre-Porter have about 700k between them, leaving a few other short stacks around the table. It’s becoming an open question now if they’ll bag early or just play the full 15 levels.

  • Huang Still Leading with 10 Left

    Level:13 (1500/3000/3000)
    Entries:10/77
    Prizes:$36,575

Zeyu “Skytrain” Huang is still leading and he’s up to more than 400k now. Among the other players still in the mix looking for a bag is WPT Global streamer Jordan Banfield, who already has two wins this week including the first multi-day event of the series, the $340 Deepstack. Kali Shuali, who was in the money in the Heads Up game last night, is also still in the mix with a decent stack, while Michael St. Pierre-Porter, who has cashed two events so far including a 2nd place, is sitting with around 300k.

  • Two from the Bags

    Level:13 (1500/3000/3000)
    Entries:10/77
    Prizes:$36,575

They are down to 10 players remaining now and they’ve broken down to a single 10-handed table. There are just under 25 minutes to play in Level 13, so it’s an open question if they’ll even finish out this level before the bags come out.

  • 4 Off the End of the Night

    Level:13 (1500/3000/3000)
    Entries:12/77
    Prizes:$36,575

The final 12 players are on a break with the conclusion of Level 12. There are three levels on the schedule for tonight, but it seems very unlikely they’ll play that long. Most likely, the night will end sometime in Level 13 or early in Level 14.

It looks like Zeyu Huang is the leader right now with about 370k in front of him. There are a few stacks in the 200k range, but it doesn’t look like there are any other 300k+ stacks.

  • 8 Off the Bags

    Level:12 (1500/2500/2500)
    Entries:16/77
    Prizes:$36,575

Theya re down to 16 left with 15 minutes to play in Level 12. They’ll head out for a break following this level, then return for three more levels of poker, at most. More likely, they’ll return for a level or two and then bag up when they 8 players sometime in Level 13 or 14.

  • Two Tables Remain

    Level:12 (1500/2500/2500)
    Entries:18/77
    Prizes:$36,575

They are now 10 players away from the bags as Level 12 begins with 18 players left in the game. There is a break following this level, and it still looks likely they’ll still be playing then, but it doesn’t look like it’ll go much longer once they return from the break.

  • Down to 21

    Level:11 (1000/2000/2000)
    Entries:21/77
    Prizes:$36,575

They are down to 21 remaining now in Day 1a with 25 minutes to play in Level 11. There is another break scheduled at the end of Level 12 and they’ll almost certainly make it to that break, with the bags coming out sometime in Level 13 or 14 most likely.

  • Numbers are Official at 77

    Level:10 (800/1600/1600)
    Entries:23/77
    Prizes:$36,575

The numbers are now official with 77 entries recorded for Day 1a. That means there is $36,575 waiting for Day 2 and 8 players from today’s flight will make it to Thursday. There are still 23 players left alive so they need to lose 15 more players before the end of the day. In theory, Day 1 has a hard stop at the end of Level 15, but it seems very unlikely that today’s flight will go that long.

  • 77 Unofficial Entries

    Level:10 (800/1600/1600)
    Entries:23/77
    Prizes:$36,575

Dinner is now over and entries are closed for Day 1a of the Megastack. It ended with 77 entries on the board, which still needs to be confirmed. If it holds, then it should mean 8 players advancing to Day 2 from this flight, with all 8 guaranteed money on Day 2.

There are 23 players left in the action after dinner, so this could be a relatively short day as they only need to lose 15 players before the bags come out.

  • Dinner Time

    Level:9 (600/1200/1200)
    Entries:36/77
    Prizes:$36,575

The 1a players are now on their dinner break with entries set to close when they return for Level 10 in just under 45 minutes. There are 77 entries on the board to start dinner for prizes of $36,575. Assuming there are no new entries over dinner, then that should mean 8 players advancing from today’s flight.

  • Final Level of Entry

    Level:9 (600/1200/1200)
    Entries:36/76
    Prizes:$36,100

Level 9 is just beginning and this is the final level to enter or rebuy for 1a of the Megastack. Entries will remain open through the dinner break following this level, but will be closed when they sit down for Level 10 at about 7:15 PM.

They’ll do this all over again tomorrow for Day 1b before the final Day 2 field is set, and my expectation is that 1b will be 120 entries or more.

  • Three Levels of Entry Remain for 1a

    Level:7 (400/800/800)
    Entries:45/71
    Prizes:$33,725

Level 7 has just begun with 71 entries on the board for 1a. There are now three levels left before the dinner break following Level 9, with entries set to close once players sit down for Level 10 after dinner. That puts the end of entries about 3 hours away.

  • Nearing Second Break with 70 Entries

    Level:6 (300/600/600)
    Entries:45/70
    Prizes:$33,250

There are 70 entries on the board with 5 minutes to play in Level 6. The second break of 1a is scheduled at the end of this level and when they return there will be three more levels of poker before entries shut down for the opening flight.

  • $30k in Prizes

    Level:5 (300/500/500)
    Entries:45/65
    Prizes:$30,875

The field is up to 65 entries halfway through Level 5 with 45 players in their seats. That puts the 1a prizes over $30k with about 4 hours left to enter today’s flight.

  • 61 Entries in Level 4

    Level:4 (200/400/400)
    Entries:45/61
    Prizes:$28,975

The Megastack action is now in Level 4 with about 5 minutes left to play. The field is up to 61 entries right now with 45 players at the felt. Among the players I’ve spotted with chips are Mal Hagan, Pam MacNaughton, Zeyu “Skytrain” Huang, Ed Zurawell, Deven Lane, and two-time winner (so far) Jordan Banfield.

  • Megastack Kicks Off on Tuesday

    Event:#9: $560 Megastack ($500 + $60)

    Day 1b: Nov 13, Noon
    Day 2: Nov 14, Noon

    Start Stack:25k
    Late Entry:9 Levels (~7:15)
    Day 1 Ends:Level 15 (~11:30 PM)

The second Multi-day event of the series is set to start on Tuesday with Day 1a of the Megastack. Players start with 25k in chips to play 40-minute levels throughout the game.

There are 9 levels of late entry available on Day 1, which means entries should close around 7:15 PM on each Day 1. There are 15 levels on the schedule for Day 1, but they’ll end early if the field hits 10% before then. Note, this is a change from the day-end in the first multi-day to ensure that all players are in the money on Day 2.

  • 17 Players Left After 15 1b Levels

Day 1b is complete and there were still 17 stacks in play when the final level ended. Nicholas Teeuwen, who is fresh off his win in the Heads Up game, bagged the big stack today. He has 435.5k going into Day 2 and will lead the way. Weston Pring bagged 385k tonight for second, while Jacob Hobday has the third biggest 1b stack.

Full 1b qualifying stacks are below, and stay tuned for the full Day 2 roster and seat assignments to be posted shortly.

    Entries:24/174 (34/224)
    Prizes:$106,400

The final level of the night is just beginning with 24 players left alive. If they lose 9 players before the end of this level they’ll bag up early, but most likely, they will play through this level without getting to 15.

  • Three Tables Left

    Level:14 (2000/4000/4000)
    Entries:27/147 (37/224)
    Prizes:$106,400

They are breaking down to the final three tables now with just under 30 minutes to play in Level 14. That puts them 12 players off the end of the night with just over an hour to play before the hard stop.

  • Down to 31

    Level:13 (1500/3000/3000)
    Entries:31/147 (41/224)
    Prizes:$106,400

They are down to 31 with 35 minutes left in Level 13 putting them 16 eliminations off the money spots. Heads Up champion Nicholas Teeuwen looks to have the biggest stack right now with about 260k in front of him while DJ Sharma, who is still multi-tabling the Mix Game, looks to have close to 200k.

  • Final Break of the Night

    Level:12 (1500/2500/2500)
    Entries:33/147 (43/224)
    Prizes:$106,400

The final 33 1b players are just headed out for their final break of the night. When they return for Level 13 with blinds of 1/5k/3k/3k, they will be 18 players off the bags with the bags guaranteed to come out by the end of Level 15.

  • Four Tables Left in 1b

    Level:12 (1500/2500/2500)
    Entries:35/147 (45/224)
    Prizes:$106,400

They are down to 35 left in Day 1b now with about 15 minutes to play in Level 12. There is a final break following this level with three more levels of poker on the schedule when they return. After last night, I’m not going to try to make predictions about when tonight might end.

  • Sharma Time in Two Games

    Level:11 (1000/2000/2000)
    Entries:39/147 (49/224)
    Prizes:$106,400

They are down to 39 players left in 1b with about 5 minutes to play in Level 11. DJ Sharma is sitting with about 130k in front of him now, about twice what he had ~30 minutes ago, but he’s actually multi-tabling tonight. He also has a (somewhat) live stack in the NLH/PLO Mix game across the Chrome Room. He’s mostly been focussing on the Mega and letting his Mix stack blind down, but he’s looking for a double Sharma Time tonight.

  • More than $25k to the Winner

    Level:11 (1000/2000/2000)
    Entries:44/147 (54/224)
    Prizes:$106,400

The payouts are confirmed with the winner tomorrow set to pocket $25,536. There are 22 paid spots so it looks like there will be at least three players on Day 2 not in the money. The prizes will be loaded into the Payouts tab shortly.

    Level:11 (1000/2000/2000)
    Entries:51/147 (61/224)
    Prizes:$106,400

There are quite a few familiar faces still out there today including DJ Sharma, Shne Chief, Zishan Kassam, Ali Razzaq, Leo Zhang, Rob Lothian, Juss Viet, Jon Jacquard, Michael Malm, Weston Pring, Ed Zurawell, Caleb Simmons, John Foley, Tyler Panas, Nicholas Teeuwen, Shane Brotherwood, Julius Roque, and Calyton Litke.

  • 147 Confirmed Entries

    Level:10 (800/1600/1600)
    Entries:51/147
    Prizes:$106,400

There are about five minutes to play in Level 10 and the 1b field is now confirmed at 147. That means the total field for this one is 224 and an expected 23 paid spots on Day 2. I’m still waiting to see the official payouts, but I’ll get those updated as soon as I can.

  • 147 1b Entries after Dinner

    Level:10 (800/1600/1600)
    Entries:64/147 (74/224)
    Prizes:$69,825 ($106,400)

Entries are now closed for he Megastack event with 147 on the board when they sat down for Level 10. That number is still to be confirmed, but if it holds, it will mean that the total field is 224 for $106,400 in total prizes for Day 2. At least 15 players will be advancing to to day 2 from 1b at the end of the night, which will come at the end of Level 15, or when they hit 15 players, whichever comes first.

It looks like Day 2 will have 23 paid spots and, unless something very unusual happens at the end of tonight with multiple busts on the final hand, it’s almost certain that they will be at least two off the money when Day 2 begins.

  • 10 MInutes to Dinner

    Level:9 (600/1200/1200)
    Entries:64/142 (74/219)
    Prizes:$67,450 ($104,025)

There are just under 10 minutes to play in Level 9 with the dinner break scheduled following this level. The 1b field is up to 142 for a combined total of 219 and prizes of $104,025. There is just under an hour left in the entry period for the Megastack now.

  • $100k in Prizes

    Level:8 (500/1000/1000)
    Entries:82/135 (92/212)
    Prizes:$64,125 ($100,700)

There are about 5 minutes to play in Level 8 and the combined prizes just capped $100k with 135 entries for today’s flight and 212 across both starting days. Players still have about an hour and a half to enter or rebuy.

  • 200 Entries So Far

    Level:7 (400/800/800)
    Entries:85/123 (95/200)
    Prizes:$58,425 ($95,000)

The combined field is now up to 200 entries with 123 on the board for today. There are about 30 minutes to play in Level 7, and the total field is now 11 entries away from $100k in prizes with about 2.5 hours left to enter.

  • 120 Entries on Second Break

    Level:7 (400/800/800)
    Entries:82/120 (92/197)
    Prizes:$57,000 ($93,575)

The 1b players are on their second break of the day with 120 entries on the board so far and about 2 hours and 45 minutes left to enter this final flight. The combined field is now at 197 for total prizes of $93.5k, but there’s a good chance that will hit $100k before everything closes later tonight. They need another 14 entries today to crack the $100k mark, so that seems very doable at this point.

  • More than 100 Entries for 1b

    Level:5 (300/500/500)
    Entries:84/103 (94/180)
    Prizes:$48,925 ($85,500)

The combined prizes are now over $85k with 103 entries on the board for Day 1b. That puts the two day field at 180 and counting with about 4 hours left to enter the game. There are just over 15 minutes to play in Level 5 with entries open until the start of Level 10.

  • Nearing 100 Entries for 1b

    Level:4 (200/400/400)
    Entries:85/97 (95/174)
    Prizes:$46,075 ($82,650)

There are about 5 minutes to play in Level 4 with the 1b field at 97 entries now. That puts the combined prizes over $82.5k and climbing. There are still about 4.5 hours left to get into the game with entries set to close at about 7:15 PM tonight.

  • Lots of Familiar Faces

    Level:4 (200/400/400)
    Entries:76/87 (86/164)
    Prizes:$41,325 ($77,900)

The 1b players are now back from their first break of the day with action in Level 4. There are about 30 minutes to play in the level and just under 5 hours left to enter this event.

There are quite a few familiar faces in the crowd today, including Sean O’Reilly, Tyler Panas, Shane Chief, Scott Calvank, Mal Hagan Rob Lothian, Willie Hernandez, DJ Sharma, Michael Malm, Francis Krulicki, Caleb Simmons, Lapchi Duong, Shane Brotherwood, Jon Jacquard, Weston Pring,, Don Fujita, Derek Letourneau, John Foley, Giulio Rosati, Andy Truong, Ben Locker, Julius Roque, Stephen Dauphinais, Ed Zurawell, Shannon Lazorko, Pete Fylyma, Paul Sokoloff, and the winner of the Heads Up game, Nicholas Teeuwen.

  • More than $75k

    Level:3 (200/300/300)
    Entries:82/82 (92/159)
    Prizes:$38,950 ($75,525)

The 1b field has already surpassed 1a and they haven’t even hit the first break yet. The field is now at 82 entries for combined prizes of just over $75k. It’s still looking good for ~120+ entries today which would mean prizes of more than $90k and $100k+ is within sight.

  • 68 Entries in Level 3

    Level:3 (2008/300/300)
    Entries:68/68 (78/145)
    Prizes:$32,300 ($68,875)

Level 3 has just begun and there are almost 70 entries on the board fro 1b already. They are just 10 entries away from the 1a end-of-day total, so today looks like it it will be significantly bigger than yesterday’s flight.

  • Deal Time

    Level:25 (25000/50000/50000)
    Entries:1/224
    Prizes:$106,400

The Megastack is now complete after the final three players agreed to an ICM deal. Mike Malm had the big stack to secure the win and $18,736. Nicholas Teeuwen was second for a deal-adjusted $18,468 while Michael St. Pierre-Porter took 3rd place for $17,591.

There are a couple of extra points to make on this. This score represents St. Pierre-Porter’s biggest score ever, and his third cash of the series. Mike Malm extended his lead in the Alberta Poker Index Player of the Year race over Weston Pring, and he did it on his birthday for a very nice birthday present.

  • Brett Serpico Out in 4th Place for $8,938

    Level:25 (25000/50000/50000)
    Entries:3/224
    Prizes:$106,400
    Brett Serpico

It was blind on blind when Mike Malm raised the small blind to 200k, then snapped it off when Brett Serpico shoved the big. Malm was in great shape with ace-king into ace-ten, and the ace-king held on a board of 47JK8 after turning the king.

  • Sean Pevlin Out in 5th Place for $6,384

    Level:25 (25000/50000/50000)
    Entries:4/224
    Prizes:$106,400
    Sean Pevlin

It was a bit of a brutal exit for Sean Pevlin tonight. Michael St. Pierre-Porter shoved the small blind with a suited queen-four and the bigger stack and Pevlin called it off with the off-suit big slick.

St. Pierre-Porter hit his four on the flop and held to crack the ace-king and send Pevlin to the cage for 5th place money.

  • Weston Pring Out in 6th Place for $5,320

    Level:25 (25000/50000/50000)
    Entries:5/224
    Prizes:$120,400
    Weston Pring

Michael St. Pierre-Porter shoved under the gun and it folded around to Weston Pring in the big blind. He called with AK for a race against the pocket jacks for St. Pierre-Porter. There was a jack on the flop to leave Pring drawing very thin and he was dead by the turn.

    Entries:14/224
    Prizes:$106,400

It was a pretty gross spot for Jon Jacquard. He opened to 30k in the final hand of Level 19 and got two callers from the cutoff and the button before small blind Weston Pring shoved for 284k. Jacquard hit the tank for a bit before calling, forcing out the other two hands.

Pring was dominated with KQ against AK for Jacquard. Both players flopped their king on the K534J board, but then Pring ran out to diamonds for flush win and the double. Jacquard had the bigger stack so he is still alive, but he was on around 150k after the hand while Pring is up to around 600k.

I’ve just had a bit of an eyeball of the stacks for the final 14 players and it looks like Ben Cooper has the lead right now with about 800k in front of him. Most of the chips seem to be on Table 15 right now, as #2 looks to be Nicholas Teeuwen, seated to Cooper’s right, while Mike Malm is across the table with about 500k for 3rd place right now.

Michael St. Pierre-Porter, who bagged the 1a chip lead and came into today 3rd in chips, just shoved his small blind and his button to take down some dead money and chip up, but he’s still down from his start stack today, playing about 200k at the moment.
