Nicholas Teeuwen Takes Down Heads Up Game
It was a bit of a marathon in the Heads Up game tonight with several of the first round matches going very long. While some games seemed to go very quickly, others dragged on for a couple of hours.
When it got down to the semifinals in the money, it was Haven Taylor versus Oleksandr Lobur with Taylor coming out the victor. On the other side, it was Kali Shuali against Nicholas Teeuwen wth Teeuwen taking it down. Interestingly, Shuali was up against her poker coach and close friend, Michael Malm, in the quarter-finals, taking it down to move on.
The final battle went for a couple of hours with Teeuwen holding the advantage over Taylor through most of it. I wasn’t able to watch the action that closely as I was following the final table of the Seniors game at the same time, but pretty much every time I looked at the heads up match, Teeuwen was in the lead.
Final Results from Heads Up
Place Player Prize 1 Nicholas Teeuwen $8,295 2 Haven Taylor $4,791 3 Kali Shuali $2,672 4 Oleksandr Lobur $2,672 -
John Foley Out in 2nd Place for $8,678
It was a marathon game today, with the action going for about 16 hours before a winner was decided, but heads up didn’t take long, though they had to move to the poker room to finish it out as a result of the late hour. John Foley was the short stack for most of heads up and in the end, it all came down to a race between Foley’s pocket nines and ace-queen.
There was an ace on the flop, and then the ace-queen ran out to Broadway for the decisive win. The winner of the game asked to remain anonymous for personal reasons, so their picture and name won’t be shared.
-
Don Fujita Out in 3rd Place for $6,199
Level: 27 (40000/80000/80000) Entries: 2/174 Prizes: $49,540 It’s now heads up between John Foley and Mr. Anonymous after Don Fujita hit the rail in 3rd. He shoved the button with ace-six and was called by Anon in the big blind with ace-eight. The eight played on a board of 2♣K♦2♠4♦5♦ so Fujita was out in 3rd place.
-
Nancy Kelln Out in 4th Place for $4,463
Level: 27 (40000/80000/80000) Entries: 3/174 Prizes: $49,540 It wa s blind on blind when Nancy Kelln shoved over a limp from Mr. Anonymous. He called it off with king-jack and held against her king-deuce suited and they are down to three left.
-
April Facey Out in 5th Place for $2,975
Level: 26 (30000/60000/60000) Entries: 4/174 Prizes: $49,540 It was a bit of a brutal end for April Facey tonight. She was the chip leader for a good chunk of the night but then ran into it in a few hands to bust out in fifth. In the previous hand, she got it in with ace-king against king-ten of diamonds, and the anonymous player flopped diamonds for the win.
That left her with about 400k which went in the next hand with jack-ten. John Foley woke up with ace-jack and called. The board ran clean for the ace and Foley won it to send Facey to the rail.
-
Jim Berry Out in 6th Place for $2,480
Level: 25 (25000/50000/50000) Entries: 5/174 Prizes: $49,540 They are down to 5 left now after Jim Berry followed Eddie G to the rail tonight in 6th place.
-
Eddie Guilbault Out in 7th Place for $1,984
Eddie Guilbault shoved all in early and Nancy Kelln smooth-called from the cutoff. Guilbault was in rough shape with pocket sevens into the rockets for Kelln and, at least in this case, it wasn’t always coming seven.

Teeuwen Still Leading
Nicholas Teeuwen is still in the lead in the final heads up match and the stacks are still about the same with Teeuwen on about 20k and Haven Taylor on about 10k.
-
Break Chips
Level: 25 (25000/50000/50000) Entries: 7/174 Prizes: $49,540 April Facey is still the leader, but it’s a little closer than it was before. Full stacks are below.
Player Chips Eddie G 475,000 John Foley 710,000 Anon 615,000 Nancy Kelln 435,000 April Facey 1,210,000 Jim Barry 605,000 Don Fujita 395,000 -
Jacqueline Ray Out in 8th Place for $1,636
Level: 24 (20000/40000/40000) Entries: 7/174 Prizes: $49,540 They are down to 7 left now after a huge hand that saw Don Fujita come from behind to take a near triple. He shoved under the gun for 210k and Jacqueline Ray reshoved with less next to act. It folded around to April Facey in the small blind, and she made it three all-ins with a stack that covered the whole table.
Both Ray and Facey were playing ace-queen while Fujita was dominated by both with queen-eight. This is poker, though, and Fujita turned the eight for a big win. He outstacked Ray, so she hit the rail in 8th place while Facey had to pay off Fujita.
There are now less than 10 minutes to the next break, and I’ll grab full chip counts while they are away from the table.

Teeuwen Leads Final Match
The final match between Nicholas Teeuwen and Haven Taylor is underway with Teeuwen holding the lead right now. The game was supposed to play with a 25k start stack for the final match, but because of how long some of the matches were today, the two players in the final agreed to a 15k start stack instead. At the moment it looks like Taylor is sitting with about 10k.
-
Teeuwen Takes It
It’s been a bit of a marathon in the final semifinal match tonight. Kali Shuali had the lead for a while, but Nicholas Teeuwen just came back for the win.
Haven Taylor has been very patiently waiting for the winner of this match so they can get on with the final round.

Eddie G Doubles
Level: 23 (15000/30000/30000) Entries: 8/174 Prizes: $49,540 April Facey raised the hijack to 75k and Eddi G called from the big blind. The flop was 10♠6♦5♦ and Eddie check-shoved over Facey’s bet of 100k.
“I have to call, even though I’m only drawing,” she said, putting out the call for a bit more than 200k total. Eddie hit the ten while Facey had overs and a backdoor straight draw with queen-jack. The turn and river bricked for her and Eddie doubled, but she still has a mountain of chips in front of her.
-
Rob Bridger Out in 9th Place for $1,289
Level: 23 (15000/30000/30000) Entries: 8/174 Prizes: $49,540 They are down to 8 left now in the Seniors after Rob Bridger lost a race with pocket nines against king-jack. The jack came on the flop and he was left with fumes. He doubled once when he was forced all in from the big blind in the next hand, but was out the following hand. This was Bridger’s first Seniors tournament as he just turned 50 and it seems likely he’ll be back for another go come January.
-
Bridget Calvank Out in 10th Place for $1,190
Level: 22 (15000/2500/25000) Entries: 9/174 Prizes: $49,540 They are down to 9 left now in the Seniors after Bridget Calvank busted in 10th. She was very eager to make the final table tonight so she could “get some press like her hubby.” Her hubby Scott was on the rail for her game tonight after he busted the event early, and she was on his rail this past August when he won his first ring at the Aug WSOP-C.

Final Table Faces
Level: 22 (15000825000/25000) Entries: 10/174 Prizes: $49,540 Here is a look at most of the final table tonight. There is one player who has requested anonymity for personal reasons so their picture isn’t included, but worth noting that the same player was one of the Anon final tablists from last night’s One-Day Deepstack as well.

Shuali Leading Final Semi
Kali Shuali is leading the final semifinal match now with about 23k to Nicholas Teeuwen’s 7k. Haven Taylor is waiting for the winner of this match for the finals.
Across the room, the Seniors final table is now setting up with four ladies among the participants. Six of the final 12 players in this one were women, with Michelle Murray and Cheryl Knight ending in 11th and 12th respectively while April Facey has a huge lead with more than 1.3 million.
