Ladies Night?
Level: 22 (15000/25000/25000) Entries: 11/174 Prizes: $49,540 It’s turning into a bit of a Ladies Night here at Deerfoot today. There are 11 players left in the Seniors game now and five of them are women with April Facey holding the huge lead. Jacqueline Ray is also in the mix, looking for her second final table in as many days after she made the FT of the One-Day Deepstack yesterday.
Meanwhile, across the room, Haven Taylor is waiting for the outcome of a match between Kali Shuali and Nicholas Teeuwen, so the final round of the Heads Up game is guaranteed to have at least one woman, and it could easily be a battle between Shuali and Taylor for an all-woman final.

Final Table Bubble
Level: 21 (10000/20000/20000) Entries: 11/174 Prizes: $49,540 They are on the final table bubble now after Cheryl Knight from Lethbridge hit the rail in 12th place tonight. April Facey is still the big leader tonight with about 1.3 million in front of her, which is close to 1/3rd of the chips in play right now. Full prizes to date are under the payouts tab.

Level: 21 (10000/20000/20000) Entries: 12/174 Prizes: $49,540 They are down to 12 left in the Seniors now after the exits of Kevin Willerton and Dwayne Johnston. Johnston’s chips went to the ever-growing stack of April Facey when she turned a set of queens in the race against his ace-king.

14 Players Left in Seniors
Level: 20 (8000/16000/16000) Entries: 14/174 Prizes: $49,540 They are down to 14 players left in the Seniors event now with Level 20 about to end. April Facey is still leading with about 1 million but John Foley is stacking chips as well. A lot of Foley’s chips came from 15th-place David Labchuck. They got it in with both players holding ace-king, but Foley ran out to a 4-card flush to take it down. A few hands later, he finished Labchuk off with queens over aces when he spiked his queen.
Below is a look at the cashing players so far.
Place Player Prize 15 David Labchuk $793 16 Mike Lonigro $744 17 Pam MacNaughton $694 -
Shuali Moves on to Semis
The second semifinal match is now set after Kali Shuali took down Mike Malm. She’ll be meeting Nicholas Teeuwen in the second semifinal match to start shortly.
-
Hand for Hand
Level: 18 (5000/10000/10000) Entries: 18/174 Prizes: $49,540 They are now down to 18 players left on the final two tables and the clock is paused for hand-for-hand play. They’ll take two minutes off the clock for each hand played until the next elimination.
-
Taylor is First Player to Finals
While the second semifinal match doesn’t even have its competitors set yet, the first one is already complete with Haven Taylor taking the win. That makes Oleksandr Lobur the first player to cash out in this game, collecting the first payout of $2,672.
The second semifinal is still waiting on both competitors as Mike Malm and Kali Shuali are still battling, as are Weston Pring and Nicholas Teeuwen to decide who the two semifinalists will be.
-
Two off the Money
Level: 18 (5000/10000/10000) Entries: 19/174 Prizes: $49,540 There are just over 15 minutes to play in Level 18 and the field is now down to 19, just two off the money. They’ll break down to the final two tables and go hand-for-hand after the next elimination.
-
Facey Still Leads at Break
Level: 17 (4000/8000/8000) Entries: 22/174 Prizes: $49,540 The Seniors players are on a break following Level 16 and it looks like April Facey is still the clear leader. She’s playing more than 600k at the moment.
There are 22 players left in the game at break, so when they return for Level 17, they will be just 5 eliminations off the money spots.
-
Final Round 2 Battle Complete
It was a marathon between Weston Pring and Antonios G in their Round 2 match, but it’s now finally over with Pring advancing to the 3rd round to meet Nicholas Teeuwen. The winner of that match will meet the winner of the Mike Malm/Kali Shuali match for the second semi-final. Malm/Shuali is underway and it looks like Malm has a slight lead now.
The first semifinal between Haven Taylar and Oleksandr Lobur is already underway with the players looking to be about even right now.

Event: #9: $560 Megastack ($500 + $60) Dates: Day 1a: Nov 12, Noon
Day 1b: Nov 13, Noon
Day 2: Nov 14, NoonBlinds: 40 MInutes Start Stack: 25k Late Entry: 9 Levels (~7:15) Day 1 Ends: Level 15 (~11:30 PM) The second Multi-day event of the series is set to start on Tuesday with Day 1a of the Megastack. Players start with 25k in chips to play 40-minute levels throughout the game.
There are 9 levels of late entry available on Day 1, which means entries should close around 7:15 PM on each Day 1. There are 15 levels on the schedule for Day 1, but they’ll end early if the field hits 10% before then. Note, this is a change from the day-end in the first multi-day to ensure that all players are in the money on Day 2.
-
Facey With the Lead
Level: 15 (2500/5000/5000) Entries: 33/174 Prizes: $49,540 It looks like April Facey is now the overall leader with about 400k in front of her and 33 players left in the game. There are about 10 minutes left in Level 15 and they are now 16 players off the money spots.

Interesting R3 Battle
Perhaps the most interesting matchup in Round 3 is between Michael Malm and Kali Shuali. As a couple, they know each other’s game very well so it will be interesting to see who prevails. Malm is on a red-hot run right now as the current leader of the API so he’s likely to be tough to beat, but Shuali has some moves of her own, so it will be interesting to see how this all plays out.
Meanwhile, the first semifinal matchup is set after Haven Taylor bested Nick Peterson to move on to face Oleksandr Lobur shortly.
-
Final Four Tables
Level: 15 (2500/5000/5000) Entries: 35/174 Prizes: $49,540 They are down to 35 players left now in the Seniors game with Level 15 just underway. The next break is following Level 16 in about an hour, and my guess is that the bubble will burst sometime in Level 17 or 18 tonight.

Lobur First Player to R4
Oleksandr Lobur is the first player to the 4th round now after he just defeated Dylan Payne. He is now guaranteed money and awaits the winner of the match between Haven Taylor and Nick Peterson for his semifinal opponent.

Five Tables Remain
Level: 13 (1500/3000/3000) Entries: 44/174 Prizes: $49,590 They are down to 44 left in the Seniors game now with less than 5 minutes to play in Level 13. Among the players I can still see in the game are Jacqueline Ray (who was on the FT of the One-Day last night), Debi Loomer, John Foley, Bill Thomson, Fred Balic, Kirk Nilson, Don Fujita, Pam MacNaughton, Wayne Hoffert, April Facey, Julius Roque, Peter Amic, Rob Bridger, Mike Lonigro, Bridgette Calvank, and Page Bruce.
It looks like Page Bruce and April Facey are among the leaders right now with about 240k each. There is one other player out there who looks to be playing a bit more than that, but they have requested anonymity for personal reasons. Bridgette Calvank just chipped up to about 160k when she got ace-queen in against ace-jack and ended up winning with a four-card diamond flush after he opponent flopped his jack to take the lead.
It’s also worth adding that Rob Brodger is in hist first seniors tournament today, having just turned 50 this year. I spoke with him over dinner, and he reported very much enjoying his first time, saying it was a more relaxed atmosphere than other tournaments he plays.

That leaves the round 2 matches underway with a few of them already complete. Haven Taylor, Oleksandr Lobur, Mike Malm, and Dylan Payne all winning Round 2 matches with Adam H/Nick P, Kali Shuali/Thomas Taylor, Antonios G/Weston Pring, and DJ Sharma/Nicholas Teeuwen still underway.
The first Round 3 match is also set now, though it’s not underway yet. Dylan Payne will be battling Oleksandr Lobur each other in R3.

50 Players Left at Dinner
Level: 12 (1500/2500/2500) Entries: 50/174 Prizes: $49,590 The Seniors players are on their dinner break now with the conclusion of Level 12. There are still 50 players left in the action so it’ll be a while yet before any money is handed out. The average stack coming back from dinner will be just under 30 big blnds.
-
69 Players Remain
Level: 11 (1000/2000/2000) Entries: 69/174 Prizes: $49,590 Level 11 is just underway with the Seniors field down to 69 players left. There is a 45-minute dinner break scheduled following Level 12.
