Last Chance Bounty Runs Sunday
Event: #15: $280 Bounty ($200 + $50 + $30) Dates: Nov 17, 2 PM Blinds: 20 Minutes Start Stack: 20k Late Entry: 9 Levels (~5:30 PM) Day 1 Ends: One-Day Event Event #15 is the final chance to grab some cash from the 2024 Fall Super Stack. The game gets going at 2 pm on Sunday afternoon alongside the final day of Main Event action.
Players sit down with 20k in chips for 20-minute levels, and $50 of the $280 buy-in goes into the bounty pool, while $200 goes into the prizes. They’ll have 9 levels to enter the game, which should put the final chance to enter at about 5:30 PM.
My main attention on Sunday will be on the final day of Main Event action, and there’s a very good chance this Turbo Bounty game starts and finishes while that action is still ongoing, so I may not have much time to cover this one. Time will tell, but I’ll do my best to keep the numbers updated and get a photo of the winner, at the very least.

$300k in Prizes
Level: 5 (300/500/500) Entries: 101/127 (114/234) Prizes: $162,878 ($300,105) There are about 10 minutes to play in Level 5 and the prize pool just hit $300k with 127 entries on 1b. Combined with 1a, that puts the total field at 234 entries right now with just under 4 hours left to enter.
Among the other players I’ve spotted today are Deven Lane, DJ Sharma, Ali Razzaq, Nicholas Peterson, Michael “Berny” Bernstein, Stephen Dauphinais, Rob Bridger, Curtis Singleton, Michael St. Pierre-Porter, Roman Brar, Tyler Panas, Andy Truong, Jackson Yang, Don Fujita, Colten Yamagishi, Malcolm Bolger, Thomas Taylor, Mike Malm, Shane Brotherwood, John Foley, Giulio Rosati, Graham Lupton, Brody Mickelson, Pete Fylyma, Bash Ramahi, Leo Zhang, and Sunny Lubana.

NLH Turbo On the Side for Saturday
Event: #14: $280 Turbo ($250 + $30) Dates: Nov 16, 7 PM Blinds: 20 Minutes Start Stack: 20k Late Entry: 8 Levels (~10:10) Day 1 Ends: One-Day Event The second-to-last event on the Fall Super Stack schedule is set to run on Saturday night starting at 7 PM. The $280 Turbo has 8 levels of late entry putting the final chance to enter at about 10:10 PM tonight. Players start the game with 20k in chips to play 20-minute levels until a winner is decided.
Most of my attention earlier in the day will be on Day 1b of the Main Event, but I’ll move over for the endgame of this one once 1b is bagged and Day 2 is set up.

1a Numbers Hit in Level 4
Level: 4 (200/400/400) Entries: 99/107 (112/214) Prizes: $137,228 ($274,455) The 1b field has already met the total field from 1a with Level 4 about half finished. There are now 107 1b entries putting the combined total at 214 for nearly $275k in prizes. There are still a bit less than 5 hours to enter the game, so those numbers will only grow from here.

Pushing 100 Entries Before First Break
Level: 3 (200/300/300) Entries: 90/95 (103/202) Prizes: $121,838 ($259,065) They are just moments from the first break of the day now with the 1b field at 95 for a combined total of more than 200 now. That puts the combined prizes at nearly $260k with more than 5 hours left to enter today’s flight.
$300k in total prizes is still looking like a lock today, and there’s a good chance they’ll be flirting with $400k before entries close around 7:15 tonight.
Among the players in the action today is Johnny “WowWow” Yu, in town for his first event in the series, as well as Chris Clisby, Sean O’Reilly, Rock Kosterman (who was deep in the PLO Bounty last night), winner of the Aug WSOP-C Main Alex Liu, Matthew Ouellette, Paul Sokoloff, Mike Malm, Kali Shauli, Shannon Lazorko, Wendy Wenaas, Skyler Edgar, Shane Chief, and Zeyu “Skytrain” Huang. That’s far from a complete list, but it’s a start.

Final Flight to the Main Event Boarding on Saturday
Event: #12: $1,500 Superstack ($1,350 + $150) Dates: Day 1a: Nov 15, Noon
Day 1b: Nov 16, Noon
Day 2: Nov 17, NoonBlinds: 40/60 Minutes Start Stack: 30k Late Entry: 9 Levels (~7:15 PM) Day 1 Ends: 15 Levels or 10% of the Field (Max ~11:30 PM) Entries: 107 Prizes: $137,228 Day 1a was a pretty big day with 107 entries by the time they finished dinner at about 7:15. A bit more than four hours later, there were 13 players putting chips in a bag, 2 more than the 10% number that would have ended the day earlier.
That means that unless something radical happens at the end of Day 1b, Day 2 will NOT be in the money. However Day 1b plays out, the player they’ll all be chasing is Robbie Mosher from Nova Scotia. He bagged a massive stack of 633k, more than 200k more than second place Senthuran Vijayaratnam. As the bags came out, one of his tablemates jokingly asked if he needed a second bag.
Day 1b is the final chance for players to get into Day 2 on Sunday. There is already almost $140k in the prize pool from the 107 1a entries, so it seems like a lock for the game to crush $300k by the time entries close on 1b. They only need 127 entries, an extra 20 over the 1a total, to push past the $300k mark.
Day 1b action gets going at noon on Saturday as a replay of Day 1a. There are 9 levels of late entry and 15 levels on the Day 1 schedule. Levels are 40 minutes in length for Day 1 play.
I will likely be late to the floor for Saturday’s flight as Friday night was a bit of a late one.

Damien Zillig Wins PLO Bounty for $4,550
Damien Zillig wasn’t even sure he’d make in time for the game tonight. He and partner Alyssa Webber arrived in town tonight from BC and barely made it. Their flight was delayed and they weren’t even at the Calgary airport when the tournament began tonight.
They both made it in time for late registration and while Webber wasn’t able to run up a stack, Zillig found his way to the winners’ circle. Zillig was actually one of the shorter stacks when they got to the final table, with runner-up Mike Malm leading the way, but once play was in the money, he found a new gear.
His rungood ramped up and he was the big leader by the time they were five-handed. He then proceeded to send Mal Hagan and Hasan Al Ghunaim (who was the runner-up in January’s Main Event) to the rail to build an even bigger stack.
Malm then took out Gerry Edwards in 3rd to send the match heads up with the stacks close to even. They played a few smaller pots, most of which went to Zillig and when the final big confrontation happened Zillig was back in the command chair.
The final hand was pretty uneventful until the turn when Zillig put Malm in a tough spot, potting his open to force him into a fold/shove decision. Malm tanked for more than five minutes agonizing over the decision until they finally got it all in with Malm on two-pair and Zillig technically behind on top pair, but holding all the draws in the universe.
It was his straight draw that hit on the river, but that was just one of many possible outs for him. It seems like a good bet that we’ll see Zillig in the Main Event Day 1b tomorrow. He and Webber are in town for the poker, but also for the upcoming birthday of their son on Monday so the win tonight is just a bit of a bonus before the big prize of quality birthday time.

Mike Malm Out in 2nd Place for $3,489
Heads up didn’t take very long. When they got two ways they were close to even, but Damien Zillig was running hot tonight at the end, and he quickly rebuilt the lead.
The final hand really got crazy on the turn. It started off pretty tame as Zillig limped his button and Mike Malm smooth-called to the 4♥7♣2♦ flop. They both checked it to the 9♣ turn, and that’s when the fireworks started.
Malm bet 100k only to see Zillig pot it to 420k and Malm hit the tank. There were still about 5 minutes left in the level before the break, and Malm took all of it, plus a bit of time into the break. During the tank, Zillig confirmed that with play heads up, they could show some cards before the action was complete, then showed Malm a 9♠.
Malm returned the favour, showing a 5♣ before heading back into the tank. About 2 minutes later, Zillig offered another hint at his hand, showing the 10♣. Malm didn’t show a second card, but he said that had “changed his decision”.
Finally, he decided to shove all-in and Zillig called it off. Zillig had top pair and a wrap with the club draw as well holding J♦10♣9♠3♣. Malm was on two-pair with a ten-four-deuce but the 8♥ river straightened it out for Zillig to take down the win.
This was Malm’s second fourth cash in the series and his second runner-up finish. He chopped the Mystery Bounty with Josh Berry for second place after he was seventh in the opening $340 Deepstack. He then went on to win Event #9 yesterday after a three-way ICM chop and followed it up here tonight with 2nd place for $3,498 plus an extra $1,000 in bounties.
He told me after the win last night that it was his birthday, so it’s safe to say he’s having a pretty good birthday week here at Deerfoot.

Gerry Edwards Out in 3rd Place for $2,427
Level: 21 (10000/20000/20000) Entries: 2/82 Prizes: $23,370 ($15,170 prizes, $8,200 bounties) They are heads up now after Gerry Edwards busted in 3rd place. He ran into the flopped quad jacks for Michael Malm to end his run in 3rd place.
Mike Malm and Damien Zillig are now heads up with close-to-even stacks.
-
Hasan Al Ghunaim Out in 4th Place for $1,593
Level: 20 (8000/16000/16000) Entries: 3/82 Prizes: $23,370 ($15,170 prizes, $8,200 bounties) They are down to three as Level 2 ends. Hasan Al Ghunaim was the 4th place finisher tonight. I missed the action, but chip leader Damien Zillig is the leader right now.
-
Mal Hagan Out in 5th Place for $1,062
Level: 20 (8000/16000/16000) Entries: 4/82 Prizes: $23,370 ($15,170 prizes, $8,200 bounties) They are down to 4 left now in the PLO Bounty after chip leader Damien Zillig hit a straight to send Hagan to the rail.
-
Rick Kosterman Out in 6th Place for $758
Level: 20 (8000/16000/16000) Entries: 5/82 Prizes: $23,370 ($15,170 prizes, $8,200 bounties) They are down to 5 now after Rick Kosterman hit the cage for 6th place. He had jack-ten-ten-three against seven-six-sic-four for Hasan Al Ghunaim.
Al Ghunaim limped in from the middle before Kosterman shoved for 24k from the small blind. Big blind Gerry Edwards called to see 8♦2♠4♣ on the flop. Both players checked to the 7♣ turn where Edwards check-folded to a bet of 55k from Al Ghunaim.
With the cards on their backs, Al Ghunaim was ahead with two pair and the 4♦ gave him the boat for the win. Damien Zillig is the big stack at the moment – I’ll get complete chip counts when they go on break in 5 minutes.
-
Brody Mickelson Out in 7th Place for $683
Level: 19 (6000/12000/12000) Entries: 6/82 Prizes: $23,370 ($15,170 prizes, $8,200 bounties) Mal Hagan raised under the gun to 42k leaving just 18k behind. Brody Mickelson shoved all-in for less from the button before small blind Rick Kosterman flatted Hagan’s bet.
That built a side pot of 12k in addition to the main pot. Hagan was on A♠K♣Q♠6♣ against [invalid notations] for Mickelson and eight-eight-six-five for Kosterman. Hagan flopped a king and rivered another one for trips to win both pots and send Mickelson to the cage for 7th Place.

Kosterman Doubles
Level: 19 (6000/12000/12000) Entries: 7/82 Prizes: $23,370 ($15,170 prizes, $8,200 bounties) Rick Kosterman shoved for 28k second to act, and Hasan Al Ghunaim isolated with a raise to 75k. Kosterman was ahead with A♥A♠10♣9♥ against [AdKdKcQh[/pcn] for al Ghunaim. The aces held on a board that missed both players and Kosterman is up to about 70k now.
