  • Maybery Ducks to a Double

    Level:22 (15000/25000/25000)
    Entries:3/73
    Prizes:$49,932

Garett Maybery raised to 90k from the button, and Myles Budd called from the big blind. Budd check-called for 85k on the 238 flop, then potted the 2 turn.

Maybery shoved and Bud called off with a bit more. He had a pair of fives with straight outs holding six-five-five-four, but Maybery turned trip ducks with queen-queen-jack-deuce. The river bricked and Maybery doubled, leaving Budd the short stack at about 120k. Skyler York is still the chip leader.

  • Zeyu Huang Out in 4th Place for $5,493

    Level:23 (10000/20000/20000)
    Entries:3/73
    Prizes:$49,932
    Zeyu Huang

Zeyu Huang typical nickname is Skytrain, but tonight he jokingly said he was “PLO Fish” instead. The “Fish” did pretty well, playing his short stack to 4th place tonight. He got it in over a raise from small blind Garett Maybery and Maybery called it down with more.

    Zeyu Huang: J986
    Garett Maybery: JJ109

    Board: 2A108K

<aybery was ahead with jacks against the running cards for Huang. The flop favoured Maybery, but the turn gave Skytrain some outs to the straight with a pair. The river bricked for him though and he was off to collect 4th-place money.

  • Andy Truong Out in 5th Place for $3,995

    Level:21 (10000/20000/20000)
    Entries:4/73
    Prizes:$49,932
    Andy Truong

Garett Maybery raised to 60k from the small blind and Andy Truong called from the big. It all kicked off on the [invalid notations] flop when Maybery shoved and Truong called with a bit more.

    Garett Maybery: AJ72
    Andy Truong: K1053

Truong had a pair of threes with flush and open-ended draws while Maybery was playing a jack with the bigger flush draw. Maybery turned a seven for two pair and though Truong rivered two pair on the 75 runout, it was smaller than Maybery’s.

That left Truong very short and he hit the rail in the very next to leave 4 players in the game with the average stack at about 27 big blinds.

  • Truong Repots Button

    Level:20 (8000/16000/16000)
    Entries:5/73
    Prizes:$49,932

There hasn’t been a lot of showdowns since they got five ways with most pots ending before a flop. In a recent hand, Myles Budd potted from the button to 40k, but then folded when Andy Truong repotted it to 128k from the big blind.

Zeyu Huang has potted a few times to take down blinds and antes, but Skyler York has been the one collecting the most chips, as he is now the leader with around 660k.

  • Maybery Fires River

    Level:19 (6000/12000/12000)
    Entries:5/73
    Prizes:$49,932

Garett Maybery opened under the gun with a pot to 42k and Myles Budd defended his big blind with a call. Budd check-called for 40k on the 2A4 flop and they both checked the 4 turn.

Budd checked again on the Q river, but mucked when Maybery shoved.

  • Ronnie Dattani Out in 6th Place for $2,996

    Level:19 (6000/12000/12000)
    Entries:5/73
    Prizes:$49,932
    Ronnie Dattani

There are five left now after Umang “Ronnie” Dattani hit the rail for 6th place. He limped under the gun and Andy Truong came along from the button before Skyler York make it 60k to go from the big blind.

Dattani called while Truong mucked before the A86 flop. York put out 70k, then snap-called when Dattani shoved all-in. It was set over set as Dattani was on QJ88 for middle set against AAJ3 for top set. The rest of the board bricked for Dattani and the set of aces for York took it down.

  • Budd Leads at the Break

    Level:19 (6000/12000/12000)
    Entries:6/73
    Prizes:$49,932

  • PLO Bounty Action on the Friday Side

    Event:#13: $340 PLO Bounty ($200 + $100 + $40)
    Dates:Nov 15, 7 PM
    Blinds:20 Minutes
    Start Stack:25k
    Late Entry:9 Levels (~10:30 PM)
    Day 1 Ends:One-Day Event

The side game on Friday is the PLO Bounty. For $280, players get 25k to start and will play 20-minute levels throughout the event.

The action kicks off at 7 PM and players will have until about 10:30 PM to buy in or rebuy (start of Level 10). This is a one-day event so they’ll play until one player has all the chips.

$200 of the buy-in will go into the prize pool with a $100 bounty on each player’s head. This is a standard bounty event, so every bounty will be worth $100 from start to end.

Most of my attention early will be on the Main Event’s opening flight. Once they bag up (by 11:30 at the latest) and I finish my admin work, I’ll finish off my night following this one.

  • Deal Time

    Level:25 (25000/50000/50000)
    Entries:1/224
    Prizes:$106,400

The Megastack is now complete after the final three players agreed to an ICM deal. Mike Malm had the big stack to secure the win and $18,736. Nicholas Teeuwen was second for a deal-adjusted $18,468 while Michael St. Pierre-Porter took 3rd place for $17,591.

There are a couple of extra points to make on this. This score represents St. Pierre-Porter’s biggest score ever, and his third cash of the series. Mike Malm extended his lead in the Alberta Poker Index Player of the Year race over Weston Pring, and he did it on his birthday for a very nice birthday present.

  • “Hand for Hand”

    Level:17 (4000/8000/8000)
    Entries:8/73
    Prizes:$49,932

Theya are down to 8 players now on the bubble to the money. Andy Truong is among the players still alive at the table, and after the recent bust down to 8, he called to the floor to pause the for hand-for-hand play. It took him a couple of seconds to start laughing and realize that they were playing a single table and were already “Hand-for-Hand.”

The next player out will go home empty-handed, while the rest will get some sort of payday. Full prizes are posted under the Payouts tab.

  • Final Table Time

    Level:16 (3000/6000/6000)
    Entries:9/73
    Prizes:$49,932

They are down to 9 players left on the final table of the PLO game now with Level 16 just beginning. The average stack is about 40 big blinds to start Level 16.

  • Main Event Time!

    Event:#12: $1,500 Superstack ($1,350 + $150)
    Dates:Day 1a: Nov 15, Noon
    Day 1b: Nov 16, Noon
    Day 2: Nov 17, Noon
    Blinds:40/60 Minutes
    Start Stack:30k
    Late Entry:9 Levels (~7:15 PM)
Day 1 Ends:15 Levels or 10% of the Field (Max ~11:30 PM)

The Superstack Main Event is on deck with the opening flight starting on Friday at noon. Players get 30k in chips to start and they’ll play 40-minute levels on Day 1.

There are 9 levels to get into the game or rebuy, putting the final chance to enter at about 7:15 PM. There are 15 levels on the schedule for Day 1 and, if they go the distance, the bags are likely to come out around 11:30 PM. However, they may bag up early if the field plays down to 10% of the total.

Friday plays host to Day 1a, while Day 1b will run on Saturday. All the qualifying players will return on Sunday and, in theory, they should all be in the money assuming both Day 1s play down to 10% of the field. That isn’t a guarantee, however, so it’s possible they’ll return on Sunday with work to do before the money. Time, and poker, will tell.

This will be my main focus on Friday until the bags come out.

    Brett Serpico

It was blind on blind when Mike Malm raised the small blind to 200k, then snapped it off when Brett Serpico shoved the big. Malm was in great shape with ace-king into ace-ten, and the ace-king held on a board of 47JK8 after turning the king.

    Sean Pevlin

It was a bit of a brutal exit for Sean Pevlin tonight. Michael St. Pierre-Porter shoved the small blind with a suited queen-four and the bigger stack and Pevlin called it off with the off-suit big slick.

St. Pierre-Porter hit his four on the flop and held to crack the ace-king and send Pevlin to the cage for 5th place money.

    Weston Pring

Michael St. Pierre-Porter shoved under the gun and it folded around to Weston Pring in the big blind. He called with AK for a race against the pocket jacks for St. Pierre-Porter. There was a jack on the flop to leave Pring drawing very thin and he was dead by the turn.
