The first flight for the Deepstack game is now in the books with 89 total entries and 10 players moving through to Day 2 on Sunday. At the top of the list is Mike Malm with 261,500 while Scott Calvank (who won the seniors ring in August here) is less than 20k behind for second. See my final Day 1a report for all the qualifying stacks.
Day 1b will be a redo of 1a, though likely with more entries. Given the size of 1a, I am expecting 1b to easily cap 100 before the entries close and will likely push through to 110 or more.
Players sit down with 20k in chips to start their day, and entries will be accepted for the first 10 levels of play. With 30-minute blinds on Day 1 (Day 2 moves to 40 minutes), that should put the final chance to enter or rebuy at about 8:15 PM on Day 1.
They’ll play a maximum of 16 levels on Day 1 with the bags coming out after Level 16 or when the field hits 10%+1, whichever comes first. If they play until the end of 16, the bags will be out around 11:30 PM.
This game will be my main focus throughout the opening weekend of the series. I’ll keep an eye on the side events and move to them at the end of the days for this event, but most of my attention will be focused here at the start of the series.
