The year is coming to an end, so it’s a perfect time to look back and see what has happened in the poker world in 2022 and what interested you, our dear PokerPro community, the most in the last 12 months. Poker has seen its ups and downs, but it’s fair to say we’ve seen way more good stories this year. Live poker scene is booming with record-breaking fields, new poker stars are born, content creators are putting out the best content ever, but of course poker wouldn’t be poker if there wasn’t a big scandal happening every once in a while.

So, without further ado, let’s have a look at 10 most read news at PokerPro. We’ll start at number 10 and slowly work our way up to the most read news of 2022.

10. We Have Just Witnessed a $7.7 Million Online Cash Game Pot!

The biggest pot in history of online poker has just squeezed into PokerPro’s Top 10. It was a $7.75 million hand played on cryptocurrency site CoinPoker, involving Tony G and another player hiding behind the nickname "HannibalGetya".

There’s a clickbait-y title if we’ve ever seen one, but it’s 100% true! Our new world champ for 2022 Espen Jorstad is very transparent about his poker results and it was no different this year around when he won the WSOP Main Event Championship and $10,000,000.

He revealed that he "only" had about 56% of his own action as he made 14 different swaps with his friends, which meant they’ve earned from $100,000 up to $750,000 for his win.

1. Chess World Champion Magnus Carlsen Among Final 39 in Norwegian Poker Championship 2022

Magnus Carlsen! Five-time World Chess Champion was participating in Norwegian Poker Championship 2022 where he qualified for Day 4 and was among final 39 (out of 1,050 players) who were still fighting to become the Norwegian poker champion.

At the end Magnus couldn’t add poker champ to his resume as he was knocked out in 25th place, but his bluff against John Erik Dagslott took poker by the storm!
