We’re seeing Norwegian chess grandmaster Magnus Carlsen in a different environment these days than we’re used to seeing him, as he’s playing in Norwegian Poker Championship 2022 (Norgesmesterskapet Poker 2022).
Five-time World Chess Champion is participating in NL Hold’em Main Event with a buy-in of €880 and he is among final 39 that qualified for Day 4 out of 1050 players that entered the event.
Magnus is currently sitting 21st in chips with a 2.3 million stack, while leader Stian Nǿstdahl has 5.8 million in chips. He also ran a successful bluff against John Erik Dagslott. Watch the hand down below.

Chess Poker Boom
There’s quite a poker boom going on among chess players in the last few years. Probably the best chess-poker player right now is Estonian chess grandmaster Ottomar Ladva, who recorded many impressive poker wins lately.
Last year he turned $530 into a $525,089 win at partypoker’s MILLIONS Online, beating the final table of super pros like Justin Bonomo, Jason Koon and such, won GG’s Super High Roller for $446,446 during GG’s Spring Festival and Super MILLION$ event for $325,957 payday.
