Everything is ready in Portomaso Casino for The Festival Malta that starts in just a couple of hours. In the span of 8 days from May 15th to 21st The Festival will host more than 50 different events and PokerPro.cc Team will be media partner of the festival!
We will be playing and reporting from Portomaso Casino and for sure we will have a great time with many of you. Find one of us on the poker felt and we will buy you a drink!
Out of all the events, most of the eyes may be on the juicy €550 Main Event with an amazing structure and massive payouts, but there will be so many more things going at the festival that literally everyone will find something suitable for their pocket and interest as the buy-ins are ranging from €120 to €1,100, and satellites are starting at just €40. Don’t believe us? Check out and download full schedule as PDF here.
The Main Event takes place from May 16-21 and features five opening flights from Tuesday to Friday. Two more days will be needed to crown a new winner with Ignacio Menedez being the current defending champion after defeating a field of 609 players at The Festival in Nottingham, which generated an already healthy prize pool of £236,292 and organizers expect to at least double this amount in Malta.
No Limit Hold’em is a great game but playing exclusively this format can get a bit stale after some time and The Festival knows this very well that’s why there’s a plethora of different poker tournaments to choose from. From Pot Limit Omaha to H.O.R.S.E., 8-game, Open-Face Chinese, Shortdeck, Ladies only tournament, Senior +49 event, and even Sviten Special plus many more.
Don’t particularly fancy tournaments? Say no more as cash games will be running 24/7 during the series, or you can join one of the many Cash Game Challenges. And if you want to take a break from playing poker, The Festival will feature Roulette, Blackjack and Sports Betting tournaments! If you want to know how to play these types of tournaments, check out the rules here.

"As we do for all of our events, we are planning to roll out the red carpet for our guests with many amazing activities. Our goal is to deliver a full casino event experience that players will remember for the rest of their lives."
Blackjack, Roulette, and Sportsbook Tournaments
During the festival you won’t be able to attend poker tournaments only, you can also participate in Blackjack, Roulette, and Sportsbook tournaments, each with its own set of rules. Let’s have a quick look at each of them.
Blackjack Tournament Rules
When playing Blackjack tournaments, you are playing against other players and not against the casino. All players will start with the same number of chips and the player who has the most chips at the end of the round wins and plays against the other table winners.
Usually, six or seven players play at the table and by playing multiple rounds, many players can join the tournament. It’s important to keep in mind how many chips your opponents have in order to know how to play and how much to bet.
Blackjack tournament is a game of skill and the winner of the final round will receive the biggest share of the prize, while other finalists will receive a smaller fraction.
Sportsbook Tournament Rules
As the name suggests this tournament is all about predicting different sports events and matches. The format may vary a bit but usually, you predict about 15 matches in sports like soccer or ice hockey in both 1x2 market and O/U specified number of goals.
Each correct prediction will give a different set of points, depending on how many of your opponents have correct results or if a huge underdog wins. Your aim is to gather more points than all other participating players.
Roulette Tournament Rules
Roulette players in the tournament are playing against other participants and not against the house. Chips will not have a direct monetary value, but a fictitious, usually quite larger value, due to the prevention of smaller stacks losing immediately.
The goal is to be the last man standing at the table or having the biggest chip stack. Everyone receives 250 chips and if you run out of money during the re-entry period, the player has the option to re-entry. Players must place at least one bet per spin and the table winners after two rounds (30+30 spins) will advance to Day 2. Player with the biggest stack after two new rounds wins the tournament.
