Ex-NBA superstar Tony Parker is the first person to qualify for this year $10,000 World Series of Poker Main Event!
According to Gregory Chochon, director of the World Series of Poker for Caesars Entertainment, San Antonio Spurs legend is very excited to play the Main Event for the first time. “Because of his career, he never had the time to participate but he is ready for the challenge. We always promote poker as a sport, so Tony’s qualification is great news!”, said Chochon.
Live play at World Series of Poker is coming back in 2021 after a one-year hiatus due to COVID-19 pandemic. No official schedule has been released yet, except the dates for 2021 WSOP Main Event, which will run from November 4 through November 17 with $10,000 buy-in.
Tony won his seat in The PM Group Texas Hold’em Poker Charty event, where he defeated over 200 players with a grand prize worth $25,000 and $70,000 raised for a non-profit San Antonio Sports. He will now have a shot at a nice 8–10-million-dollar payday, which is the usual amount for the Main Event champions. He obviously could have easily afforded the $10,000 buy-in himself, but this is still a great accomplishment for the Frenchman and we will gladly follow his future poker endeavours.

Tony’s qualification is not the only poker-basketball story in the last few months. Celtic’s legend Paul “The Truth” Pierce got fired by ESPN over a controversial Instagram live video, broadcasting us a poker home game full of exotic dancers.
