Phil Galfond posted on his blog a challenge to (almost) anyone for a High Stakes Heads Up durrrr-style challenge. Is there finally another challenge brewing after many many dry years?
As he writes in his post, coaches from other coaching sites and players who are willing to either stream on Twitch or play on his site Run it Once will have preference over anyone else.
Basically, he’s offering a similar terms as infamous durrrr Challenge: Heads Up Pot Limit Omaha, 50k hands, 3:1 odds at 10 buy-ins and limits from 100/200 to 300/600.
However, he is prepared to accept worse conditions, lower limits or even play No Limit Hold’em instead of his bellowed PLO. It’s clear he is doing this as promotion for RIO, which isn’t doing that great lately traffic wise and what Phil confirmed himself.
If Galfond actually gets a challenger, this will be a first high-profile battle since infamous durrrr Challenge, where Tom “durrrr” Dwan challenged anyone in the world to a million HU battle, except, ironically – Phil Galfond!
Dwan started a challenge with Dan “Jungleman” Cates back in 2010, with $1.5 million on the line and $500.000 for the win (3:1). Challenge hasn’t finished (yet), while Jungleman is (was) $1.2 million ahead after 20k hands out of 50k were played. Latest hands were played in 2013 and even those with big intervals.
