There are no players on a hotter run than Isaac Haxton is right now, as he records another win in 2023, taking down the $25,000 U.S. Poker Open event for $432,000.
“It’s been a good year,” Haxton said after the victory. “I think I was going to play more this year whether or not it went well. Though, certainly the fact that it has is a little additional motivation. I do plan to go to Monte Carlo and Cyprus after this and I’ll probably be playing some stuff at the World Series. So yeah, I am mostly back.”
This is Ike’s fourth win of the year, following a success at the PokerGO Cup Finale with a $598,000 win, only few days later crushing the $100,000 Super High Roller opening event at the PCA for $1,082,230, and then one-upping it with a closing $100,000 PCA tournament for $1,555,360 money prize.
Together with a bunch of other tournaments results, this brings him up to $5.1 million in tournament winnings, just in 2013 alone. Haxton is now 15th player in the history of poker, to reach $35,000,000 in live tournament winnings.
“I don’t give it too much thought.” Ike said about the numbers. “You know, the number of high buy-in events just goes up every year. And at this point, if I broke even for the next five years, and other people stopped playing, I’d pass them all. You just play so much now that the all-time money list tracks more who’s playing a lot, than who’s winning the most. Although obviously you do have to win to move up.”
