World Poker Tour Releases Dates for Delayed Events From Last Year

You could say better late than never. The World Poker Tour (WPT) will finally play down to a champion in three WPT events from 2020. They have been delayed for a year due to the COVID-19 pandemic but are now scheduled to play in the coming months in Las Vegas. WPT executive tour director Matt Savage confirmed that the following six-handed final tables will be played at the PokerGO studio in Aria.

The change in venue for these final tables may be the result of a change in the ownership of the WPT which took place in January. The tour was sold by Allied Esports, which owns the HyperX Esports Arena, to Element Partners, LLC for a reported $78,250,000.

2020 WPT Gardens Poker Championship

The 2020 WPT Gardens Poker Championship’s last hand was played on January 13, 2020. It started with 257 entries, who all paid the $10,000 buyin. Chance Kornuth bagged up the lead with nearly 3M in chips. His final table also includes Markus Gonsalves, Tuan Phan, Qing Liu, Jonathan Cohen, and Straton Wilhelm. First place pays out $554,495.

2020 WPT Borgata Winter Poker Open

The 2020 WPT Borgata Winter Poker Open had a $3,500 buyin. The last hand of the tournament was played on January 30, 2020, and had a total of 1,290 entries. Veerab Zakarian is the chip leader at a final table that includes Brian Altman, James Anderson, Andrew Hanna, Bin Weng, and Nathan Russler. First place pays out $675.000.

2020 WPT LA Poker Classic

The 2020 WPT LA Poker Classic had a $10,000 buy-in and 490 entries, who competed for a first place prize worth $1 million. The final table includes Balakrishna Patur, Matas Cimbolas, James Carroll, Ka Kwan Lau, Upeshka De Silva and Scott Hempel as the chip leader. Last hand was played on March 4, 2020.

2021 WPT SHR Poker Showdown

The final table date for the 2021 WPT SHR Poker Showdown, that starts in April, was also released. The will play it out on May 18, 2021.

The WPT has also released the statement of the rules that they set up. All players will receive COVID-19 tests and anyone who tests positive will receive the ICM payout of their stack. All the playes had agreed to this and have already been paid out sixth-place money.
