Early Life
John Hennigan is an American professional poker player from Philadelphia. He was born on August 10, 1970. He earned his nickname Johnny World when he was a young pool player willing to gamble on anything in the world.
The pool was his entry into the world of poker, and he got his first live MTT cash in 1997 when he came third in a $1,580 Limit Hold’em event for $11,520. There were no recorded cashes after that until 1999, when John made his first WSOP appearance.
World Series of Poker
After getting his first WSOP cash in 1999, there was another two-year gap before, in 2002, John was back playing in the WSOP and playing big time. His second cash in 2002 was a win in a $2,000 H.O.R.S.E. event that earned him his first WSOP bracelet and $117,320.
After the first bracelet win, John was still playing poker, but there were no recorded WSOP cashes until 2004, when he won another WSOP bracelet, winning the $5,000 Limit Hold’em event for $325,360. A few more WSOP cashes were recorded in 2005, including one-second place in the $5,000 No Limit Deuce to Seven Draw for $217,110.
Then, there was a period of average WSOP results until 2013, when he came third in the $50,000 Poker Players Championship event for $686,568. That result unlocked the door, as John had another WSOP bracelet win in 2014 when he won $50,000 from The Poker Players Championship for an astonishing $1,517,767, which was also his most significant WSOP cash ever.
In 2016, John won another WSOP bracelet in the $10,000 2-7 Triple Draw Lowball (Limit) Championship event for $320,103. Two years later, he had two big WSOP results: He won his fifth WSOP bracelet and $414,692 in the $10,000 H.O.R.S.E. (Event #27), and three days later, he came second in the $50,000 Poker Players Championship for $765,837.
Another WSOP bracelet came in 2019 when he won the $10,000 Seven Card Stud Championship for $245,451. John continued to play in WSOP events, but without any spectacular results until, in 2024, he won his seventh WSOP bracelet in the $1,500 Mixed Games Dealers Choice event for $138,296.

John had his first recorded WTP score in 2002 when he came fourth in $10,000 No Limit Hold’em – Final event for $83,472.
In 2007, John got the most significant cash of his poker career when he won a $10,000 WPT Championship Event – No Limit Hold’em for $1,606,223. After that, there were few average results in John’s poker career without big wins. The second-best result came in 2016 when he came seventh in a $10,000 No Limit Hold’em WPT Championship event for $160,190.

John made his first PGT cash in 2021 when he came 119th in the $10,000 No Limit Hold’em – Wynn Millions event for $ 25,091. He continued to play in PGT events and got into a few final tables in 2023 before he finally won his first PGT event. John won $10,100 No Limit Hold’em – PGT Sprint event for $97,894. Shortley after more finale tables came, and another win in $5,100 8-Game Mix event for $120,150.
