Early Life

Stephen Song was born in 1995 in New York City and started as a chess player when he was a child. He attended Greenwich High School in his hometown of Greenwich, Connecticut.

His first live MTT cash was in 2016, when he won a $570 No Limit Hold’em tournament for $32,957. After that, he continued to play smaller events in the US until 2018, when he came sixth in the $3,500 No Limit Hold’em—WPT Borgata Winter Poker Open Championship for $138,254.

World Series of Poker

Stephen made his first WSOPC cash in 2018 coming 26th in $1,675 No Limit Hold’em – Main Event #11 for $7,970. He had few more WSOP scores in the same year, but nothing significant.

Next year was the golden year for Song. He started the year with a few deep runs before he finally won the WSOP $1,000 No Limit Hold’em event for $341,854, which was the most significant cash of his career. He also won his first WSOP bracelet. After that, Song added a win in the $10,000 No Limit Hold’em Seminole Hard Rock Poker Open event for $285,243.

Song continued playing in WSOP events regularly, and in 2021 he came third in WSOP $1,500 No Limit Hold’em – The Closer event for $172,855. And in 2022 the came even closer to winning his second WSOP bracelet when he came second in WSOP $5,000 No Limit Hold’em – 6-Handed event for $476,990.

Another significant WSOPC score came in 2023 when he won $1,700 No Limit Hold’em – Main Event for $183,508 and his first WSOPC ring. Stephen added two more WSOPC wins in a span of three weeks, winning $1,100 No Limit Hold’em for $102,954 and $2,200 No Limit Hold’em – High Roller for $72,583. He also added two more WSOPC rings to his collection with these two wins.

World Poker Tour

Song played in some WPT events and had decent success. His first significant WPT score came in 2018 when he came sixth in $3,500 No Limit Hold’em – WPT Borgata Winter Poker Open Championship event for $138,254. After that, there were few WPT cashes here and there, but nothing significant until 2022 when he won $1,100 No Limit Hold’em – WPT Prime Championship for $ 712,650.

This WPT win was his most significant live MTT win by that time. He played in some WPT events after that, and had some cashes but they were smaller ones. This year Song was also named Global Poker Index Player of the Year, and Mid-Major Player of the Year which includes events with buy-ins up to $2,500.

European Poker Tour

Song had his first recorded EPT cash in 2019 in Barcelona when he came 57th in €1,100 No Limit Hold’em – EPT National event for €7,280. One week later he got his first EPT win when he won €2,200 No Limit Hold’em event for €185,230.

He didn’t play in many EPT events, and when he did there were no significant scores until 2024 when he got the most significant win of his career. Song won €5,300 No Limit Hold’em – EPT Main Event for €1,290,386.
