The world of (ultra) high-stakes poker pros and rich business people are buzzing with anticipation as the Super High Roller Bowl (SHRB) makes its return. The first event of 2024 is set to take place from August 17 to 25 at the luxurious Merit Royal Diamond Hotel and Spa in Cyprus. This much-anticipated event will feature a series of 10 tournaments, culminating in the headline $300,000 buy-in Super High Roller Bowl IX, which kicks off on Friday, August 23.
This year’s SHRB promises to be as prestigious and thrilling as ever, with an impressive lineup of events ranging from $25,000 to $300,000 in buy-ins. The schedule includes a mix of No-Limit Hold’em and Pot-Limit Omaha events, as well as two Mystery Bounty tournaments. Notably, all tournaments in the series will have a freezeout format, a first for the SHRB, ensuring a level playing field for all participants.
“We are excited to offer a freezeout format for the first time for all events, providing a more level playing field for players of all abilities to have a chance to win one of the prestigious tournaments,” said Mori Eskandani, President of PokerGO.
The Super High Roller Bowl has earned its place as one of poker’s most prolific tournaments since its inception in 2015. The series has awarded more than $168,000,000 in prize money, with champions collectively taking home over $61,000,000. “We simply cannot wait to have the Super High Roller Bowl back in North Cyprus, especially when we get to celebrate the grand opening of Merit’s new Onyx Club,” Eskandani added.
This marks the third time the SHRB Europe has been hosted by Merit Poker in Cyprus. Previous winners include Wiktor “Limitless” Malinowski, who triumphed over a 41-entry field in 2021 to win $3.69 million, and Jake Schindler, who claimed the title and $3.2 million in 2022, shortly before being banned from all PokerGO events alongside Ali Imsirovic.
This event will also play a big role in the PokerGO Tour (PGT) leaderboard, currently topped by Michael Rocco with 1,835 PGT points, followed by 2024 WSOP Main Event winner Jonathan Tamayo (1,730 PGT points), Jesse Lonis (1,713 PGT points), Daniel Negreanu (1,660 PGT points), and Jeremy Ausmus (1,499 PGT Points).
