In a recent Hustler Casino Live cash game, Ethan “Rampage Poker” Yau had a tough night, losing over half a million dollars.
Before coming to play in HCL, Rampage made a post saying: “Either gonna be rich or be back to playing 1/3 after tomorrow’s game, and there’s absolutely nothing in between.”
And then, after the show, he made another post saying, ” Back to 1/3 I go.”
He wasn’t playing the best but he also got unlucky in certain spots.
One of the spots was when he defended his big blind against a small blind open and flopped the nuts with his Qh9c on JdTh8c. Pepe in SB checked, and Rampage bet $3K into the pot of $12.6K.
Pepe called and the dynamics changed after the Qc followed on the turn to improve Pepe to nearly the absolute nuts with AdKc. It appeared possible at this point that Rampage could get away cheaply after both players checked.
That wasn’t the case as the action got hot and heavy on the 3d river. Pepe bet $6K before Rampage bumped it up to $20K. The pot grew even further after Pepe three-bet to $61K, which Rampage quickly called.
Shortly after, Rampage displayed his disappointment after a massive $136.6K pot went the other way to Pepe.
That was the end of his session, and the next day he made a post on his social media saying: “Hit rock bottom last night. To constantly teeter the fine line between winning a house or financial ruin takes an emotional toll and it culminated into a disaster last night. I’m appreciative of the friends and support I have that reach out but also apologetic to those who risked their own money who bought action. For transparency sake, I had a large majority of myself last night, which totaled to a $547,000 loss. It’s silly, the house I live in costs less than that. I have a lot of learning and healing to do after last night and maybe a break from poker would be wise.
I’m grateful for the opportunity I get to play at HCL for ridiculously large sums of money and a chance to entertain the poker audience on a regular basis. Hopefully I’ll be back soon, ready to fire like I’ve always been.”
Rampage got a lot of support in the comments, and one of the people supporting him was fellow YouTube streamer Wolfgang Poker, who said, “You’re too good to be on the sidelines. Keep your head up, I’m always your biggest fan 🙂”
