Alban Juen’s Unyielding Dominance from Start to Finish at FPS Aix-les-Bains

Alban Juen, a local French player, stamped his authority on the France Poker Series (FPS) Aix-les-Bains €1,100 Main Event. From the start, Juen set the tone, maintaining the chip lead throughout Day 1, Day 2, Day 3, and the final table of the tournament. With a field of 475 entries, reaching the final table is no easy feat, let alone dominating it.

Final Table

When the final table of seven was set, Juen was comfortably seated as the chip leader, boasting 95 big blinds. His closest competitor, Swiss player Julien Sottas, held a respectable 50 big blinds. Mathieu Vizioz, the shortest on the final table with just 9 big blinds, managed to survive one money ladder, dodging the first bullet as Karim Souaid exited in 7th place.

But Juen’s momentum seemed unstoppable. By the time Ouajdi Mimouni departed in fourth, Juen had controlled two-thirds of the chips on the table. Sottas made his final stand, pushing all-in with 78s. Juen, however, had him outpaced with ATo, ending Sottas’s run.

Michael Smith

The heads-up battle saw Juen, the Frenchman, holding a 2:1 lead over Canadian Michael Smith. Smith struggled to gain traction, managing only a few minor pots before the final hand sealed his fate. Smith’s push with J4s was swiftly called by dominating Juen’s pocket Jacks. The turn card ended the match, cementing Juen as the indisputable champion of the 2023 FPS Aix-les-Bains.
