On Sunday, Gerard Pique and Arturo Vidal helped Barcelona FC at a 5:2 win over Real Betis in La Liga and the very next day they changed the football pitch for poker felt. And how successful they were!
They both participated in a one day 25.000 € High Roller tournament at EPT Barcelona. The total prize pool of the tournament was a whooping 1.680.700 € with the winner taking home almost half a million euros. Among 70 participants Gerard Pique, a former Spain national team footballer managed to finish as a runner-up and won 352.950 €! He was outplayed only by his fellow countryman Juan Pardo, but this still makes for the best poker result in his “new career”.
This is Pique’s fifth similar “in the money” result, as he has won a total of 576.100 € in tournament prizes by now.
Scoring a goal in Spain league and 5. place at a High Roller.
His teammate at Barcelona FC, Arturo Vidal, managed to finish fifth at the same poker event. He won 134.460 €, which is his first such result and has now successfully put himself on the poker map.
