Brazilian Poker Player caught cheating at LAPT

A shocking story was written during the Latin America Poker Tour (LAPT), Brazilian poker pro Rafael Caiaffa was caught cheating during the LAPT Mystery Ko event

As players were changing tables, Caiaffa sat down with additional chips that were supposed to be chips of a new incoming player.

Caiaffa deposited an extra 100,000 chips into his backpack, and later, he added the chips to his stack

Luckily, this didn’t go unnoticed; other players saw him and reported it, and Caiaffa got suspended indefinitely

The suspension could end up being a lifetime-long one, which BSOP officials will decide.

In the end, Caiaffa told Marcelo Souza that he had added an extra stack and accepted the suspension

The truth was this: I entered the Mystery KO max late, and they handed me 200,000 chips, 100,000 on the island, and another 100,000 on the table. I realized right away that I received more, and I even mentioned it to a friend of mine. I told him that I would return it soon, but it happened that they broke my table at the time; we only played three hands. Then I thought: ‘It won’t change anything if I keep the chips, it was their mistake.’ But obviously, I was the one who made the mistake. I don’t take away my responsibility. A player at my table noticed and spoke up, and he’s more than right. The floor came and saw everything that happened. I also told the truth, and he eliminated me.”

Caiaffa is a notable poker player who won an online bracelet on GGPoker!
