Daniel Negreanu Takes on Eric Persson on the Next High Stakes Duel

PokerGO’s High Stakes Duel returns five months after Jason Koon beat Phil Hellmuth in a $1.6 million match, but neither Hellmuth nor Koon won’t be appearing in the next segment. It will be a match between Daniel Negreanu and Eric Persson in this fourth edition of the Duel. Also, for the first time, High Stakes Duel will feature an undercard match between Mike Matusow and Shaun Deeb.

Per rules, the first match begins with each player putting up $50,000, creating a $100,000 prize pool, and in every potential next round, the stakes double. The winner of the previous round brings $100,000 he won to the table, while the loser needs to put up $100,000 for a rematch.

Previous rules stated that a player who won three consecutive matches was crowned High Stakes Duel champion unless the match reached the 4^th round, as it did in Hellmuth vs. Koon case, where only two wins in a row were needed. Now in its fourth iteration, the rule for only needing two wins is from the start of the duel. If one of the guys wins both rounds, he will become the champion. If wins are split, the loser of Round 2 has a right to a Round 3 rematch.

Deeb vs. Matusow

As mentioned, a one-and-done match between Shaun Deeb and Mike Matusow will work as an undercard on Friday, May 5, where they’ll battle for a $20,000 prize pool, where each will stake $10,000. Undercard match will be available for free on PokerGO and the PokerGO YouTube channel.
