Deerfoot Returns to Regularly Scheduled Programming

After a year jam-packed with WSOP Circuit events at Deerfoot Inn & Casino, the venue is closing the year out by going back to basics with another edition of the classic Super Stack series. Prior to WSOP coming to town, the 4 seasonal Super Stack series were the highlight of the Calgary poker year.

Since WSOP started coming to town in Jan 2022, the frequency of Super Stack branded events has decreased to 2 in 2022, 2 in 2023, and just a single one in 2024, the upcoming Fall Super Stack. Live satellite action for the series gets going on Nov 5 with the first of 3 Landmark satellites for tickets to events 1, 9, & 12. Both the 5th and 6th have games at 6:30 pm, while Wed the 6th also has an afternoon game starting at 2 pm.

The Fall Super Stack itself kicks off on Nov 7 with the first of three multi-day events. The series kicks off with the $340 Deepstack game, the $560 Megastack game runs mid-series, while the $1,500 Superstack closes the series as the Main Event.

Among the other highlights to be found on the schedule is a rare HU match on Nov 11. While that is probably the biggest departure from the normal schedule, the schedule also includes a Mystery Bounty, PLO games, Seniors, and a Team event.

Super Stack Details

While the main action for the Fall Super Stack gets going on Nov 7 with the opening flight of the $340 Deepstack game as well as an evening PLO side game, players can start getting their game on with satellite action kicking off on Nov 5.

November 5 & 6 both have $280 Landmark Satellite games running offering ticket packages to all the multi-day events in the series (1, 9, & 12). Tuesday’s game runs at 6:30 pm while Wed has two games, one at 2 pm and another at 6:30 pm. All 3 games start with 15k in chips for 20-minute levels until the tickets are decided.

Special Features

The most unusual game on the 2024 FSS schedule is the Heads-Up game. While this isn’t the first time Deerfoot has put on a HU game, it’s not generally a regular part of the schedule. This time around, however, fans of hyper-short-handed play will be able to get their game on Nov 11 for $1,100. Blinds are 20 minutes, and players all start with 10k in chips with the number of rounds determined by the starting field size.

That HU match plays out alongside a more regular favorite on the schedule, the Seniors game. The HU match gets going as the side game on Remembrance Day at 4 PM while the Seniors play their hands starting at 11 am.

Four-card lovers will have 3 chances to get their game on during the FSS. Opening day features a $230 PLO as the side game, and there is a PLO/NLH mix, and a PLO bounty game near the end of the series.

Add in a bevy of NLH games to pick from, including a 6-Max PKO game on Nov 8, and it’s a schedule with something to please pretty much any poker player. Room rates can be found with the code FSS1124 at booking, and Deerfoot has excellent attached hotel facilities meaning players don’t even have to go outside to get from their rooms to the casino floor and all the games.

I’ll be there on the floor from the first hand to the last to bring you coverage exclusively on PokerPro. Live reporting will begin on Thursday, Nov 7 with the opening flight of the $340 Deepstack as my main focus so whether you are playing or just following along from home, bookmark the page for all the exciting FSS action starting next week.
