EPT Sochi Has Been Rescheduled to October

EPT Sochi series was due to start on March 18, but because of the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, the organizers were forced to reschedule their biggest live tournament to October.

Although the organizers have announced that the event has been rescheduled, the higher chance is that EPT will not step on Russian soil for the next several years. The decision to reschedule EPT Sochi comes in the wake of Russia’s attack on Ukraine. Under the orders of President Vladimir Putin, Russian troops attacked multiple Ukrainian cities in the early hours of Feb. 24.

Besides EPT postponement of next month’s Sochi stop, Formula I racing has already announced the cancellation of September’s planned Russian Grand Prix. In football, UEFA has moved May’s final in the Men’s Champions League from St. Petersburg, in Russia, to France, and the International Ski Federation (FIS) has called off all World Cup events scheduled to take place in Russia for the remainder of the winter.

Poker is an afterthought at a time like this, but Europe’s live tournament schedule could be entering another period of uncertainty after two years of cancellations due to COVID-19.
