This was not Gutierrez’s first win at the 2024 PokerStars European Tour Cyprus since he already won $25,000 Super High Roller Warm Up for $417,570.
“My first win was more difficult. The heads-up was very up and down. I started with a huge chip lead heads-up, but my opponent turned it around, and I suffered mentally because I really wanted to win.” “Today, I entered [heads-up] better. I tried to relax and think clearly about what I was doing and what was going on. I went back to the game a lot more mentally prepared.” said Gutierrez
Gutierrez is known in poker circles as the PokerStars Ambassador, but outside of poker circles as the ex-husband of Maia Campbell, the star of the hit sitcom show “In The House.”
Gutierrez has now more than doubled his live MTT earnings with two wins in a week. His current live earnings are $1,318,675, with $417,570 being his most significant live cash. He is also ranked 25th in Spain’s All-Time Money List by Hendon Mob.
Gutierrez beat the field of 50 entries, which was mostly made up of very strong players. The event lasted two days, and Gutierrez came into the final day as the second biggest stack after Albert Daher, who finished in 10th place without cashing.

The final day started with 25 players who survived day 1 and 12 new players who later reged into the final day. Another PokerStars ambassador, Sam Grafton, a regular in this kind of high rollers, was eliminated early on day 2 by Kayhan Morki, who managed to get into the money and secure a $102,000 payout for his fifth-place finish.
Steve O’Dweyer, Juan Pardo, Danilo Velasevic, and the bubble boy Roman Hrabec were all eliminated before the money, and the final table was set with seven players who were competing for the remaining $1,2 million with $390,200 reserved for the champion.
Simone Andrian was the first one to leave the final table and win a $63,000 payout for seventh place. After that, action continued, and we saw people get knocked out before only three were left. Gutierrez was leading in chips, but Teun Mulder was close, and Hassan Nashar lagged behind them. At one point, Nashar took over the chip lead after he won an all-in against Mulder and doubled with A♥5♠ > K♣Q♣.
Not much after Guttierez knocked Nashar out of the tournament when his A♠4♣ made a straight on 8♣2♠3♠5♥3♣ against Nashar’s A♦Q♦ All-in pre, Nashar won $174,100 for his third-place finish.
Going into the heads-up, Gutierrez was the big favorite, with an almost 5:1 chip lead over Mulder. After 30 minutes, Gutierrez finished the job in a limped hand where all the money went in on the turn where Gutierrez had top par against the middle pair, which was drawing to only two outs but didn’t manage to hit. Mulder was out in second place for $258,100.
