The European poker scene is set to be electrified with the return of the European Mixed Poker Championship (EMPC) and the concurrent Poker North Masters (PNM), both hosted at the prestigious Card Casino Bratislava.
Set against the backdrop of Slovakia’s vibrant capital, Bratislava, these events promise an exciting mix of poker formats, drawing players from across the globe to compete in what is shaping up to be an unforgettable poker experience from March 11 to 24.
Adding to the excitement, PokerPro’s own Jason Glatzer will be on the floor of Card Casino Bratislava, lending his expert commentary to the Poker North Masters, ensuring you won’t miss a moment of the action.
European Mixed Poker Championship (EMPC)
Kicking off the two-week poker extravaganza is the EMPC, returning with a bang from March 11 to 15 after a successful debut last year. This year, the championship is gearing up to be even bigger, a dream come true for mixed game enthusiasts with eight thrilling events designed to test and crown the world’s best all-around players.
The festival starts strong with the €100 The Big Bet Mix, a mix you probably don’t see outside of a championship like this: NLHE, PLO, NLO8, NL 5-card Draw, and NL 2-7 Single Draw.
The crown jewel of the European Mixed Poker Championship is the two-day, 8-game Main Event with a €400 buy-in, structured to offer the best experience in determining the best mixed game player. Last year, Lithuanian mixed game specialist Dainius Antanaitis clinched the Main Event title and walked away with €11,265.
Alongside the Main Event, the festival boasts a variety of other events, including the €250 The High-Low Mix, featuring Omaha 8 and Stud 8, and the €350 Dealer’s Choice, offering a selection of 18 different games from classic favorites to unique variants like Badacey and Baducey.
The festival introduces what is possibly a world first – the €250 6-Game Mystery Bounty event, alongside the €800 H.E.T.R.O.S. High Roller Freezeout, a twist on regular HORSE format with the addition of 2-7 Triple Draw and a slightly different rotation suggested by the name. The €250 Lowball Mix Draw will focus on draw games, and the festival will culminate on a high note with a €250 10-game event, the perfect round-up for mixed game aficionados.
The EMPC will also feature a player of the series leaderboard, awarding the overall winner with a grand trophy and a seat into the Poker North Masters Main Event.
Poker North Masters (PNM)
Running concurrently with the EMPC, the Poker North Masters welcomes Nordic players back to Bratislava for a festival brimming with more than 40 events across two weeks of non-stop poker action.
The highlight of the series is the Poker North Masters €350 Main Event, boasting an impressive €500,000 guarantee. With 12 first-day flights from March 15 to March 23, this event is poised to attract a global player pool that will surely crush the guarantee.
Aside from the Main Event, players can jump into a myriad of side events spanning NLHE, PLO, and a variety of mixed games. With buy-ins ranging from as low as €120 to up to €5,000 for high-roller events, there’s something for every player level.
The festival also includes the prestigious €800 Norwegian Championship 2024 that will crown the Norwegian poker champion. The reigning champion is Lars Hareid, who beat Morten Lie in a heads-up for the title and €110,768 money prize.
With PokerPro’s Jason Glatzer set to commentate on the Poker North Masters and an array of tournaments catering to all tastes, these festivals are a testament to the inclusive and friendly environment that should define the poker world. Players can look forward to forming lasting friendships while engaging in the diverse and exciting schedule that these championships have to offer.
