World Series of Poker revealed that GGPoker, BetKings, and ClubGG are sending a combined total of 774 players from all over the world to Vegas for the 2023 World Series of Poker Main Event. In their 2023 Road to Vegas promo, ClubGG handed out 100 packages, with the remaining 674 hailing from GGPoker and BetKings. This far exceeds the original guarantee of 600 players, demonstrating the enormous global interest in this year’s series.
If any of the qualifiers from GGPoker or Betkings goes on to become the world champion, an additional $1,000,000 will be awarded on top of the tournament payout. Adding further excitement, the organizers have announced a draw in which one fortunate player will win the “Main Event for Live,” -a non-transferrable Main Event buy-in for the next 30 years.
The $10,000 buy-in Main Event will be held from July 3rd to July 17th, with the final nine known by July 14th. After a day off on July 15th, the winner will be determined during two days of intense final table play on July 16th and 17th.
The ongoing 2023 WSOP is breaking attendance records across various events, a trend that sets the stage for an anticipated record-breaking Main Event. The 2022 Main Event, for instance, boasted 8,663 entries, second only to the 2006 record of 8,773 when Jaime Gold won the championship.
Even though many other series across the globe are also seeing record numbers, the surge in 2023 WSOP participation can be attributed in part to the relocation from the Rio to its new, iconic venues on the Las Vegas Strip – Horseshoe Las Vegas and the Paris Las Vegas Hotel & Casino.
This gave the World Series of Poker a breath of fresh air and set the stage for a potential historic Main Event.
