The Global Poker Index (GPI) has announced a cancellation of all Player of the Year awards for 2020, which shouldn’t really come as a surprise with a current lack of live poker tournaments due to COVID-19 pandemic.
“This past year has been tough on the industry. Most venues were unable to host events due to lockdowns or various restrictions and players were not able to travel to play”, GPI/THM President Eric Danis said.
All 2020 results have been scrapped from GPI leaderboards on their respective website with hope that 2021 brings some normality to (poker) world.
Poker power couple Alex Foxen and Kristen Bicknell who are current male and female Players of the Year, will remain reigning champions for another year.
