As the 2024 Grosvenor Poker Tour (GUKPT) reaches its midpoint, the series returns to London for one of the season’s most anticipated stops. The event is set to take place at the iconic The Vic casino, a venue marked in poker history and synonymous with top-tier poker action. Nestled in the heart of London, The Vic has been a favored destination for many UK poker players.
London’s stop, scheduled from May 15 to 26, is expected to be one of the largest outside the Grand Finale, which will take place in Luton this season. The festival promises a regular choice of events that have already been ingrained in the GUKPT players’ minds.
Kicking off with the £250 The Opener event on May 15, the series ramps up quickly with the £560 Midi Main Event beginning the day after. The highlight of the series, the £1,250 Main Event, starts on May 23 and features three first-day flights, including a Turbo Day 1C. A new champ will be crowned on May 26.
In January, Luke Porter made a remarkable comeback at the final table to secure his first GUKPT victory, taking home £116,710, beating a field of 529 entries. In 2023, John McCann and Weixiao Liao won the London Main Events, pocketing £89,122 and £75,501, respectively.

London Side Events
This year’s lineup at The Vic includes 11 numbered events, ensuring there’s something for everyone. Alongside the above-mentioned events, players can look forward to the £550 GUKPT Cup and two PLO events: the £250 PLO 4 Card and the £330 PLO 4/5/6 Bounty. For those seeking higher stakes, the $2,000 High Roller event offers a chance to compete at the highest level.
Calogero Morreale Still on Top of the 2024 NPL Leaderboard
There’s no change at the top of the 2024 National Poker League leaderboard. Reining 2023 champion Calogero Morreale continues to lead the chase for the £75,000 Sponsorship Package.
Callum Gordon is trailing over 100 points behind the Italian as he secured two final table finishes this season, placing second in the Blackpool event and eighth in the GUKPT Edinburgh Main Event.
Matthew Davenport, the 2022 GUKPT Player of the Year, sits comfortably in third place. Known as one of the most accomplished players in GUKPT history, Davenport now holds a record for the most Main Event appearances with 13. Positions second to eight are still in contention for a £30,000 Diamond package.
