Europe’s longest-running poker tournament, the Irish Poker Open, is set to impress the poker world once again from March 25 to April 1, 2024. Returning to the prestigious Royal Dublin Society in the heart of Dublin City, which acted as an exceptional host last year, this event stands as a testament to Ireland’s rich poker heritage.
Irish Poker Open is one of the largest poker festivals and the crown jewel of Ireland’s poker scene, attracting thousands of players worldwide. Its popularity among top players reflects the tournament’s deep history and one of the best atmospheres on and off the felt.
The previous year’s Main Event set a new benchmark with a record-breaking 2,491 entries and a staggering prize pool of €2,428,475. Scotsman David Docherty went from a modest €109 satellite entry to a triumphant victory and €365,000 prize. This remarkable story added to the festival’s lore, much like Steve O’Dwyer’s win the year before, who took down the Main Event for €318,700 and fulfilled his long-held wish to capture this prestigious event.
From March 27 to April 1, the 2024 festival’s pinnacle remains the €1,150 Irish Open Main Event, which boasts a guaranteed prize pool of €1,000,000. Given its history and the anticipation surrounding the event, it’s expected to crush the guarantee once again.
In addition to the Main Event, over 30 different poker tournaments are scheduled for this year, and some of the key events include the €350 Irish Open Championship, the €250 Hendon Mob Championship, the €5,000 Luxon High Roller Championship, and the €250 Ladies Championship, among others. Players can also look forward to the mighty popular €550 NLH and €1,100 PLO Mystery Bounty events.
As the Irish Poker Open 2024 draws near, players across the globe prepare to converge on Dublin, eager to etch their names alongside previous champions and perhaps write their own legendary story in the annals of this historic festival.
