John Hennigan Dominates Day 2 of PGT Mixed Games Event

John Hennigan has cemented his legacy as a mixed-game poker expert by clinching the 2024 PokerGO Tour Mixed Games $5,100 buy-in 8-game mix event. With a career that spans decades, Hennigan, a World Poker Tour champion and a six-time World Series of Poker bracelet winner, has now accumulated over $9.3 million in tournament earnings, with this latest victory adding $120,150 to his impressive resume. This triumph marks his 13th career title and his 20th score of six figures or higher.

At 53, Hennigan’s victory against a field of 89 players showcases his unmatched skills across various poker formats and highlights his adaptability and consistency in high-stakes poker. This event was particularly notable for its mix of six limits and two big-bet games, challenging even the most versatile poker players. However, Hennigan seemed unfazed, navigating through all the different poker variants. This win was Hennigan’s second final-table finish of the year, following an eighth-place finish in a $10,000 buy-in no-limit hold’em event during the PokerGO Cup in January.

Hannigan started Day 2 with nearly half of the chips in play and maintained his lead through the final day’s challenging dynamics. The event culminated in a heads-up battle against Adam Friedman, a formidable opponent with five WSOP bracelets. However, Hennigan’s massive lead and strategic play saw him through, with the final hand in a round of stud sealing Friedman’s fate and securing Hennigan the title.

Notable eliminations included Christopher Claassen and Max Hoffman, who fell early in the day, Ken Aldridge and Nick Guagenti, who made deep runs but couldn’t overcome Hennigan’s momentum.

Adam Friedman, the runner-up, earned $77,875, a significant addition to his over $4.4 million tournament. The 2024 PokerGO Tour Mixed Games series promises more action and excitement, with eight more events on the horizon. If the opening two tournaments are any indication, poker fans are in for a thrilling ride as the world’s top players will battle in 8 more amazing and diverse poker tournaments.
