It’s been quite a series so far for WPT Global streamer Jordan Banfield, and it’s barely half-finished. Banfield is a regular in local series here at Deerfoot Inn & Casino and he picked up his first live win here back in 2021. This week, he picked up #2 and #3.
While Banfield does most of his volume online on his Twitch stream, he’s a keen live player as well. The win in 2021 was his first recorded live cash, and interestingly, it came in one of the events he won this week, the $340 Deepstack game.
On the opening day of the series, Banfield bagged up the 5th biggest stack from Day 1a of Event #1, giving him the weekend off to jump in some other events. On Friday night, he jumped into the 6-Max PKO, and about 12 hours later, he and Weston Pring were heads up for the win. The top two prizes were even and Banfield took the game down for all the bounties at the end.
He won nearly $3k in prizes plus more than $3k in bounties for that one and was set to come back on Sunday for Day 2 of the Deepstack with a middling stack. He ran that up through the day before powering through a stacked final table that included multiple Ring winner Paul Sokoloff, Andy Truong, Dave Howat, Jackson Yang, Haven Taylor, and API points leader Michael Malm.
When he got heads up with Truong, they played a bit until the stacks evened out, and then decided to chop it up. Once again, they split the money down the middle with Banfield taking the win with the most chips.
Oakley, Berry, and O’Bertos with Wins
There are now 6 events in the books from the Fall Super Stack at Deerfoot Inn & Casino and while Jordan Banfield has won two of them, that still left a bit of glory for others. The opening day of the series saw a PLO game in the evening, running alongside the opening flight of the Deepstack game. Todd Oakley took it down for his third career win and a score of $4,389.
Friday’s side game was the PKO which saw Banfield get his first of two wins while Saturday featured a Mystery Bounty on the side. Josh Berry from Victoria took that one down over Malm for a score of $3,328.
Sunday was a busy day with Day 2 of the Deepstack as the main game, as well as two side events. While Banfield was picking up his second win in the Deepstack, a One-Day version of the same event was running across the room. That one came down to a spirited heads-up battle between Stephen O’Bertos and Michael St. Pierre-Porter that saw the lead change several times. The two finally agreed on an even chop of the money with O’Bertos in the lead and taking the official win.
The Team game also ran on Sunday evening and the team of Haven Taylor & Ed Zurawell took down the win after an ICM chop heads-up against Shane Brotherwood and Graham Lupton.
