The buzz was undeniable at King’s Resort in Rozvadov, Czech Republic, as PLO enthusiasts from across the globe flocked there for the much-anticipated The Grand Big Wrap PLO series. Running from September 12-18, this high-stakes PLO extravaganza guarantees high rollers a piece of the whopping €4,000,000 prize pool.
Kicking off the series was The Big Wrap €5,000 buy-in PLO Master. When the dust settled, it was Joni Petteri Jouhkimainen who stood atop the 128-strong player field, pocketing an impressive €154,900. As usual with PL Omaha, the journey to the top wasn’t without its challenges.
Patrick Boedtker Rasmussen from Denmark had a dominant presence in Day 1 of the tournament with a sizeable chip lead. However, Rasmussen’s momentum faded, barely squeezing into the money, ultimately settling for a commendable 9th place finish and a payday of €16,350.
A notable mention goes to the 6th place finisher, German Jonas Kronwitter. Kronwitter has been on fire in 2023. His accolades include a 3rd place finish at the 2023 WSOP in the $50,000 PLO High Roller, cashing in an incredible $1,037,441. Further, in July, he cemented his position as one of the top PLO players by becoming the European Champion in PL Omaha in an event held in Velden, Austria.
In the heads-up match, Jouhkimainen bested Nikolaos Lampropoulos, who put up a good fight, but eventually finished as the runner-up, earning himself €107,700.
The Big Wrap series isn’t over yet. With events like the €2,350 Main Event and the €25,000 Bounty Hunter still to come.
