The famous commentator, poker player, one of the biggest promotors of the game, and a member of the Poker Hall of Fame, Mike Sexton, died at age 72, due to prostate cancer. The sad news was shared on Twitter by Linda Johnson.
Mike won one WSOP bracelet in his poker career, in 1989, when he bested the competition at the Seven-Card Stud game. In 2006 he has won the prestigious WSOP Tournament of Champions. In 2009, he was inaugurated to the Poker Hall of Fame.
He won his last trophy in 2016, winning the main tournament of the World Poker Tour in Monaco, and therefore adding a WPT title to his resume.
The win was even more special due to the fact, that the majority of the public think to the televised WPT streams when hearing his name, as he was a renowned WPT commentator from 2003 up to 2017. He played a major role in popularizing poker and presenting it to the general public as an intriguing game.
After his commentator career, he has become the president of partypoker, one of the biggest online poker sites.
