Poker Pro Thomas Evans Zanot Wins $6.4 Million Pai Gow Jackpot at Flamingo Casino

Las Vegas poker pro Thomas Evans Zanot hit one of the biggest jackpots ever as he won more than $6.4 million while playing Pai gow progressive poker at the Flamingo Casino in Vegas, the casino’s Twitter account posted.

He was playing at the tables about three hours before hitting the jackpot and his winning hand was a 7-card straight flush from 8 to A, with a Joker in between. The total amount on the big check was $6,443,401 and funnily enough, he set his hand “wrong”, leaving additional $25 on the table. Instead of putting A-T as his two-card hand, he should’ve put A-Joker and 8-9-T-J-Q. Don’t think he’ll lose a sleep over this, though.

Zanot has $1.1 million in poker tournament winnings, with a 1st place at The Gardens Poker Classic for $162,300 as his best career result, so winning this money is quite a life changing event for the local pro. Spokesperson from Caesars Entertainment added that he hopes to use his winning to buy a house.

This leaves many poker players in tears as a lot of professionals were grinding the Pai gow tables during the big jackpot. In fact, the progressive bounty grew so big that playing it was +EV and we all know how poker players love their EV. Jackpot has been now reset to $305,000 and it will take time to build up again, even though 40 tables across Caesar’s properties in Las Vegas, Reno, Lake Tahoe, and Laughlin are linked for the progressive jackpot.
