Wong, who entered the day commanding over 50% of the chips in play, initially experienced a small setback, dropping to second place on the leaderboard. However, his resilience shone through as he swiftly regained the lead and proceeded to dominate the final table, eliminating his three final day opponents.
John Hennigan was the first to exit, as his hopes to take his second victory of the series were taken away in a pivotal 2-7 hand, when he faced off against Wong’s superior hand, resulting in a fourth-place finish and a $49,350 prize. Similarly, Scott Lake‘s journey ended in a 2-7 lowball hand, where Wong’s skillful play secured him a third-place finish and a $68,150 payout.
Heads-Up
The final face-off saw Wong going head-to-head with Max Hoffman with Wong holding a significant chip advantage, which he quickly extended, pushing Hoffman to the brink. The tournament reached its end during an A-5 hand in level 20 where Hoffman got it all-in before the third draw with 6♠5♠3♦A♣ up against Wong’s 8♠6♠3♦2♣A♦. Hoffman had outs to stay alive, but when the Q♦ appeared on the final draw, he headed to the payout desk for $103,400 and his third cash of the series andwith Wong sealing the deal and confirming his championship status.
