Eric Wasylenko Adds Another PPT Trophy

Eric Wasylenko Adds to his PPT Trophy Collection with 6-Max Win

Eric Wasylenko definitely enjoys his time on the tables here in Edmonton. He’s already won two Main Events this year to add to multiple side event titles and Main Event final tables from last year and today he added another PPT trophy to his collection in the 6-Max.

It was a dominating performance for the Winnipeg native. He had the big stack for most of the day — when they were six-handed at the final table Wasy had just shy of half the chips in play. He used the big stack masterfully, forcing other players to fold and generally bullying the table wherever he could. The final hand came down to runner-up Rob Lothian shoving a king from the button when Wasy woke up with pocket sevens. The sevens held on a dry board and Wasylenko had yet another trophy for his growing collection.

Mike Malm Wins Little Bounty for $4,880

Mike Malm was dominant at the final table tonight. He came to the FT with the chip lead, and while he wasn’t the leader for the whole FT, he maintained his dominant style of play. In one big pot heads-up he called down runner-up Francis Fan with just ten-high. Fan mucked his hand so we’ll never know what he had, but Malm called with ten-four on a paired board that also included an ace and a king.

Malm is having a pretty good month so far. He had a great series at the Grande in Calgary earlier in the month where he booked a win plus three other cashes. A week or so before that he cashed multiple times in the August WSOP-C in Calgary, including a 2nd place in the Big 30 Stack game. After he won, he mentioned that he chopped the Monthly Deepstack at Deerfoot in Calgary on Wednesday before coming to Edmonton, so Malm looks to be on a hot streak right now. The rest of the field better watch out in the upcoming PPT events when they see Malm sit down.

Ajaypal Gill Wins 8-Max for $10,168 after Deal

There wasn’t really any heads-up play tonight as the final two players agreed to a chop as soon as play got two ways. They both agreed to $9,500 with the remaining $668 and the trophy on the table to play for. They ran it out with a single all-in hand, winner take all, and Ajay Gill nailed it when he was the first to reveal a card, and he showed the gut card to a four-card gutshot draw on the board.

Kevin Schell Wins Turbo after Chop

The final two players in the Turbo game decided on an even chop when they got heads up as blinds were pretty big and they were pretty close in chips. The chopped the pot evenly and played one all-in hand for the trophy which Kevin Schell took down, leaving him with the official win and the hardware. They got through the 94 entries pretty quickly tonight, as befits a turbo, with the final hand playing out about 8.5 hours after the first.
