The 2024 season of the Pure Poker Tour is now well underway, with the second event about to begin. After a successful opening event in Feb at Pure Casino Edmonton, where Eric Wasylenko finally broke his curse to take down his first Main Event title on the PPT after three straight final tables, the tour moves to Pure Casino Calgary for a mini-series.
The action for the second installment of the 2024 PPT kicks off on Apr 9 with three events, and for once, all of them are open-entry events. While the PPT series usually starts with a Seniors-only game, the compressed nature of the mini-series means that game has been dropped this time around.
Instead, the series will kick off with the ever-popular 6-Max game at 1 pm and will feature a Turbo Bounty and a Survivor game later in the day as well. Other games to watch out for this week will be the PLO Big Bounty game, as well as the 8-Max, The Tag Team, the High Roller, and, of course, the Main Event.
Main Event flights start on Friday, April 12, and players will have two chances to bag a Day 2 stack with Day 1 flights on Friday and Saturday. Day 2 runs on Sunday, and the final table, as needed, will play out on Monday alongside the final day of High Roller action.
In total, there are 12 events packed into the 7-day schedule, making for a solid week of poker, and with the dropping of the Seniors game, every event in this series is open to all. The only caveat to that is the Tag Team event, which, while technically open to all, does require a two-person team to enter.
I’ll be on the floor of the Casino Calgary Social Room from the first day to the last, bringing you the action through Main Event Travel and PokerPro. As always, as just one man, I won’t be able to cover everything completely, but I’ll do my best to pick the “most important” game each day to focus on and bring you numbers and names from the other games at least.
See you all in Calgary in a couple of days — Let’s get the cards in the air for 2024 PPT #2.
