Shoichiro Tamaki Triumphs in Record-Breaking APT Incheon Main Event

Asian Poker Tour made its traditional stop in Incheon, South Korea, for another record-breaking festival as Japan’s Shoichiro Tamaki emerged victorious in the Main Event, securing the biggest prize of KRW 271,447,000 (approximately $206,030) after a three-way ICM deal.

This year’s edition of the APT Main Event marked a record milestone with an astounding 930 entries who flocked to the Paradise City Casino, shattering the initial $1,000,000 guarantee and elevating the prize pool to KRW 1,867,347,000 (~$1,411,975).

The final day showcased a field of sixteen players, with Tamaki leading the charge with a towering stack. Tamaki’s ascent to the top was punctuated by a pivotal flip victory and a massive pot win against Uzbekistan’s Valeriy Pak, who notably finished 2nd at WPT Korea for $197,332, during the final stages of Day 3.

As the dust settled and Pak made an exit in 4th place, the trio of Tamaki, Tsz To Wan, and Napat Chokejindachai decided to do an ICM deal with $20,000 and a golden trophy remaining in the pot. Following the agreement, the play went on for a few more levels before Chokejindachai’s elimination in third place.

Tamaki started the heads-up battle behind in chips against Wan but eventually overpowered the Chinese. In the final hand, Wan went all-in with an open-ender on 693 board, while Tamaki called it off with a pair of threes for a maiden victory and a total prize of KRW 271,447,000 (~ $206,030).
