Law enforcement officials interrogated Mikki Mase, a prominent figure in social media and professional gambling, alongside three other individuals following reports of gunfire in a Chatsworth neighborhood on Sunday evening, as per news accounts.
Who is Mikki Masse?
Known by his real name, Michael Meiterman, Mase has gained renown as a professional gambler, flaunting his successes on social media and notably featured in the recent Discovery documentary series “Hustlers Gamblers Crooks.” In one segment titled “The Moment I Won $4.5 Million,” Mase vividly recounts his multimillion-dollar triumphs in baccarat across various Las Vegas casinos.
Once again thrust into the limelight, Mase found himself under scrutiny on Sunday when law enforcement responded to reports of gunshots in the 29000 block of Santa Susana Pass Road around 10:30 p.m., according to LAPD Officer Jayder Chavez—footage from KeyNews.
TV captured LAPD officers, armed with rifles and donning tactical gear, at the scene adjacent to Santa Susana Pass State Historic Park. The officers encountered four men strolling along the road, directing them to approach with hands raised above their heads before being handcuffed and subjected to questioning, as depicted in the video footage.
Chavez indicated that the men were subsequently released, with no evidence discovered at the location. The police did not disclose the identities of the men.
Reached by phone on Monday, Mase asserted, “It’s not a crime to walk on a public pathway.” He clarified that they were not trespassing on private property. Recounting an earlier incident where he witnessed what he presumed to be a firework, Mase mused, “I saw a firework fired earlier in the night and thought it was weird, but thought if I lived out here, I might do the same thing.”
Mase alleged that law enforcement officers brandished firearms at him and the other men without explanation before they could inquire about the reason for their detainment. However, he refrained from disclosing his purpose for being in the area on Sunday evening.
