The flop came 4♦6♦4♠, giving Dwan the best hand. Peter bet for $8,000 with his ovepair, Steve called with A♦J♦, Dwan raised $36,000, Hook folded, and two players called. The pot was $127,000.
The turn came 10♣, and Peter hit the monster, leaving Dwan with just one out (4♣) and three percent equity. Peter and Steve checked, and Dwan bet $76,000, but only Peter called. The pot was $279,000.
The river was a brick 2♥; Peter continued to put the trap on and checked; Dwan went for a third barrel of $167,000 and got raised to $425,000. Dwan couldn’t believe it, and after a few minutes of thinking, he called and got the bad news: Peter had won the $1,129,000 pot.
