Everybody who was streaming poker used to stream in the category named “Poker,” but lately, this category has been overflown by live broadcasts and streams by mainstream poker sites, which made it hard to compete for independent poker streamers.
So Twitch created a new category for poker players/streamers, and it looks good since it’s much less competitive and makes streamers easier to find for viewers.
For now, there are still more people streaming in the “Poker” category, but it’s just a matter of time before all streamers who are not fully established yet and want to grow will transition to the “Poker Online” category.
If you are a new streamer trying to get discovered and make it as a poker streamer on Twitch, this is a great opportunity that will only last for a while. Sooner or later, the category will grow and be as competitive as the old one.
