WPT Rolling Thunder Championship Celebrating Its 10th Anniversary at Thunder Valley

Before the players embark on Virgin Voyages Valiant Lady for the WPT Voyage Championship, the spotlight first turns to the Thunder Valley Casino for the WPT Rolling Thunder Championship. The World Poker Tour (WPT) Main Tour continues in Northern California, where a second stop of its 22^nd season will take place from March 23 to 26, 2024.

Celebrating a decade of being part of the WPT family, the WPT Rolling Thunder has become a staple in the WPT lineup. The event’s inaugural run in 2014 saw hometown hero J.C. Tran clinching his second WPT title and pocketing a $302,750 first-place money prize.

If the first year saw 465 player-field, WPT Rolling Thunder outdid itself last year, drawing a record-breaking field of 590 entries and creating an all-time record prize pool of $1.88 million for the Thunder Valley Casino. Scott Eskenazi emerged victorious, capturing his first-ever title and the lion’s share of the prize pool of $361,660. Remarkable turnout is particularly noteworthy given the tournament’s structure, which features only one Day 1 without multiple flights, with only one shot to attract a large field of players.

As the $3,500 buy-in Championship event starts on Saturday, March 23, a new champion is prepared to be crowned four days later on Tuesday, March 26. Late registration will remain open until the start of Level 11 on Day 2, offering a final chance to throw a hat into the ring. The Final Table will be livestreamed on the WPT’s YouTube and Twitch channels, allowing poker fans to catch all the drama from the 10^th anniversary WPT Rolling Thunder in real time.
