A Day of Ups and Downs

Day 2 began with 95 remaining players, but Manzano‘s journey to the top was marked by a series of highs and lows. His strategic play and timely aggression helped him accumulate a formidable chip stack by the time the final table was set.

Final Table Action

The final table saw intense competition. Nicolas Vatan and Ruslan Nazarenko were early casualties, falling to Robert Gill. However, Manzano gained momentum with a critical three-way all-in hand that significantly boosted his chip stack. Gill maintained a friendly demeanor, often showing his hands when opponents folded, but Manzano dominated the eliminations, knocking out four of the next five players.

Gill and Manzano engaged in numerous battles for smaller pots, with Gill seizing the chip lead for nearly three levels. Despite being short-stacked, Manzano rallied, winning several consecutive hands to reclaim the lead.

The Winning Hand

The tournament climaxed with a dramatic final hand. Manzano called an all-in bet from his opponent on the flop, holding A3 against Gill‘s KQ. Though initially behind, Manzano paired his ace on the turn, and the river card gave him two pair, securing his victory. The room erupted in applause as Manzano celebrated his triumph, pocketing $161,846 and the coveted gold bracelet.

As his supporters chanted his name and broke into song, Manzano reflected on his plans for the celebration: “I usually don’t celebrate my winnings because I’m really tired after such a long session, but they are going to a party, and I have to be there, so… we are going to do something.”

Alex Manzano‘s win in the $600 Pot-Limit Omaha Deepstack event will be remembered as a landmark moment in his poker career, signifying not just a personal milestone but also a celebration of a two-decade-long journey in the world of poker.
