The Bulgarian rail was out in force on Wednesday night to witness Simeon Spasov secure his second World Series of Poker gold bracelet in Event #12: $1,500 6-Handed No-Limit Hold’em at the 2024 World Series of Poker. Spasov’s impressive victory came after he bested John Henry Gordon in heads-up play, earning a top prize of $439,815. This tournament saw a record-breaking 2,526 entrants, creating a substantial prize pool of $3,372,210.
This triumph marked Spasov’s second-largest career score, trailing only his $527,944 win in the 2022 WSOP $2,000 No-Limit Hold’em event. Despite the challenging nature of 6-max tournaments, which many in the poker community regard as more prestigious and difficult to win, Spasov remained humble about his accomplishment.
“Yeah, sure, maybe on Day 2 was tough… but the final table, no, last bracelet, was a much harder final table,” Spasov reflected, downplaying the difficulty of his latest victory compared to his previous experience.

Patrick Truong, Daniel Buzgon, Matt Dodd, and Tommy Nguyen followed shortly after with the same payout. As the day progressed, Jeremy Joseph, Corey Wick, and Francisco Vasquez were also knocked out, with Anthony Marquez bursting the final table bubble after a massive hand against Gordon, who held A♣A♦ against Marquez’s A♠K♥ in a 20,000,000 chip pot.
Final Table
Gordon entered the final table as the overwhelming chip leader, quickly eliminating Joseph Brum Pacheco with Q♠J♦, making the nut straight against Pacheco’s pocket sevens. Spasov then gained momentum, moving into second place after knocking out Daniel Palau in sixth with A♠Q♥ against Palau’s pocket nines.
Gordon eliminated Mark Dube in fifth place ($112,362), Chih Fan in fourth ($152,995), and Steve Yea in third ($210,645), entering heads-up play with a 3:2 chip lead over Spasov.
Heads-Up Showdown
Spasov quickly turned the tables in heads-up play, taking a 2:1 lead in a significant hand where he raised Gordon off a bluff on the river. The lead fluctuated as Gordon fought back, eventually regaining a slight advantage. However, Spasov’s steady play saw him winning crucial pots, culminating in a decisive hand where he held a flush against Gordon’s two-pair. The final board did not improve Gordon’s hand, and he was eliminated as the runner-up.
Final Hand Details
John Henry Gordon raised from the big blind to 2,300,000 with 7♥7♣, and Simeon Spasov, after limping in, made the call with A♠3♣. The flop came 10♠7♠4♠, giving Gordon a set and Spasov a flush draw. Gordon bet 2,500,000, and Spasov called. The turn brought the 8♠, completing Spasov’s flush. Gordon checked, Spasov bet 4,200,000, and Gordon quickly announced all-in for 17,000,000. Spasov called instantly. The river 3♦ secured the victory for Spasov, sealing Gordon’s fate as the runner-up.
