The World Series of Poker (WSOP) 2024 will feature an expanded schedule that includes 99 live events, up from 95 in the previous year. The new and improved schedule brings several intriguing new events, starting with the $5k Champions Reunion No-Limit Hold’em Freezeout. All new events are explained in this article.
New additions to the WSOP schedule aim to offer an even more engaging and diverse experience for players from around the globe. Notably:
- Event #1, the $5k Champions Reunion No-Limit Hold’em Freezeout, set for the opening day of WSOP 2024 where all former champions have been invited to play this event. Knock any of them out and you get free entry into the $10k Main Event.
- Event #41: $1,500 Mixed No-Limit Hold’em; Pot-Limit Omaha Double Board Bomb Pot (8 Handed), set for June 15, introduces a dynamic twist with the inclusion of bomb pots, adding to the excitement by skipping the pre-flop betting round and dealing two boards. All players are dealt their hole cards and required to contribute a predetermined number of chips to the pot before the cards are even revealed. After the two boards are revealed, the betting begins.
- Event #65: $5k Seniors High Roller No-Limit Hold’em, on June 26, marks the first high roller event for players aged 50 and over, promising to be a popular addition given the massive turnout for the regular seniors event.
- Event #80: $800 Independence Day Celebration No-Limit Hold’em and Event #82: $1,000 No-Limit Hold’em During Main Event offer players additional opportunities to win a bracelet during the Main Event, with the latter serving as a consolation for those knocked out early.
- Event #89: $3,000 Mid-Stakes Championship No-Limit Hold’em provides another chance for Main Event participants to continue their WSOP journey.
Additional new events and adjustments aim to enrich the WSOP experience further:
- A $5,000 8-Handed No-Limit Hold’em event with one re-entry and 50,000 chips.
- The $10,000 Big O Championship, showcasing Five Card PLO Hi-Lo 8 or Better with 60,000 chips.
- A $1,000 Mystery Bounty Pot-Limit Omaha event, allowing two re-entries per flight and 40,000 chips.
- The $10,000 Eight Game Mixed 6-Handed Championship, with a varied level duration and 60,000 chips.
- A $1,500 6-Handed Pot Limit Omaha event, featuring two re-entries and 25,000 chips.
The WSOP also introduces adjusted starting flights for weekend marquee events and Mega Satellites structured as Landmarks, alongside Daily Deep Stack tournaments running from May 28 to July 15.
Adjustments and Additions
- Independence Day and Main Event Concurrent Tournaments: Scheduling the $800 Independence Day Celebration No-Limit Hold’em and a $1,000 No-Limit Hold’em event during the Main Event provides players who might be out of the Main Event with immediate alternative opportunities to compete.
- Mid-Stakes Championship: The inclusion of a mid-stakes championship offers a segment of the poker community that might find the high roller events too steep and the lower buy-in events not challenging enough.
