Your favorite poker commentator/host/reporter/interviewer/journalist Jeff Platt has just proved he’s one hell of a poker player himself. He bested a field of 470 players in MSPT Venetian $1,100 Main Event for a nice $100,804 money prize.
He “dimed the lights” on Russel McClean heads-up, even though he started a bit behind. The major shift came about half an hour in the match when Jeff made an overbet on the river after check/calling flop and turn. Russel called his bet just to see Platt’s rivered two pair.
It was all over just a few hands later as Jeff limped on the button and Russel pushed all-in with J7s. Platt made an insta call with A9s and board ran in his favour for the first career title.
According to The Hendon Mob, Platt now has $600,000 in career tournament winnings and even though this is his first major title, his biggest cash came in last year’s WSOP $1,000 Double Stack event where he finished 4th for $160,662.
There’s one thing we should mention as well. Not sure if it’s a good thing or not, but we’re 100% sure we’ll never stop hearing about this win ever. DIM THE LIGHTS.
