EPT Monte Carlo started with a bang. The record for the largest-ever France Poker Series (FPS) Main Event has been broken for the second time this year, first in Paris back in February, and now in Monte Carlo as well.
Day 3 started with 55 players and among the notables was Ben “Spraggy” Spragg, who ended his run in 21st place after a cruel cooler. On the other hand, his wife Marle Spragg won the €330 Ladies Event for €5,500. No man in the tournament this time around.
At the end it was Japan’s Daisuke Ogita who outlasted the enormous 2,138-entry field in €1,100 FPS Main Event that generated a prize pool over €2,000,000. His career-best result netted him €307,160 after defeating France’s Rubens Sallam heads-up, who walked away with €191,940.
“I’m very happy, I was lucky,” said Ogita to PokerNews after the win. He continued, “I have a small trophy from Paris and now I got the big one. It’s heavy!”
Ogita has been in fine form of late, having won a €5K 6-max side event at EPT Paris for €111K. According to TheHendonMob, this win takes him to $1.5 million in career tournament winnings. Moreover, he’s now just why away of entering the top 10 of Japan’s all-time money list.
